2RedBananas Banana Split Sunday – Christmas Card

Today's card is for this week's 2RedBananas Banana Split Sunday. The theme this week is to make a Winter or a Christmas card. Please join us for this challenge! One random participant will be the lucky winner of the Penny's Christmas Tree stamp set that I used on the card.

I stamped the image, then colored it with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. I used some Crystal Stickles on the star and Penny's hair. I paper pieced the tree skirt with some plaid paper. I cut the image and the matting (from the same plaid) using Oval Nestabilities. The background is from my friend, Suzie. (Thanks, Suzie!) The white strip is punched with a Martha Stewart border punch and scored with my Scor-Pal. The beautiful ribbon is from the 2RedBananas store. The sentiment is from Winter Wishes. It's mounted on Dimensionals.

Happy Anniversary, Andrea!

Andrea and Dave - 2009I made this card for a friend in my Yahoo! group.  Her anniversary isn’t until Wednesday, but she has already received the card, so I can post it. :)

The stamp is from Inkadinkado.  I colored it with markers, cut it with a Nestability, and added some sparkle.  The patterned paper is from Die Cuts With a View.  I did some scoring with my Scor-Pal and added some thin ribbon between the score lines.  A rather simple, but quite pretty card, if I do say so myself!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you’ll come back and visit again soon!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Just a short post to wish all my faithful readers a very Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you all have something special to do and special friends and family to spend the day with.

We, along with our son and daughter-in-law, will be heading down to my mom and dad’s.  It will just be the six of us this year.  We already celebrated with our daughter, son-in-law and grandson (and son and daughter-in-law) a couple weeks ago.

Sorry I haven’t got a card to share with you.  I worked all day Monday and quite a bit on Tuesday on my calendars.  They are finished!!  (You’ll be seeing them throughout the coming year.)  I hope to be able to make a card some time soon.

So, again, Happy Thanksgiving.  Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you’ll come back and visit again soon.

Bleach Meets Stencil

IMGP9949Someone in my Yahoo! group mentioned using bleach in a spray bottle with stencils.  So, of course I had to give it a try!

I simply placed a Happy Birthday stencil over a piece of rose colored cardstock.  I filled a mini-mister bottle with bleach, and used it to “spritz” the bleach over the paper.  Voila!  I used my Scor-Pal to make a border on the un-bleached section.  I matted it on a piece of the same cardstock, and added a couple butterflies punched out of the same cardstock – with pearls for the bodies, of course!  (The punch is by Martha Stewart.)  The base of the card is Very Vanilla by Stampin’ Up!

2RedBananas Banana Split Sunday – Thank You card

Imgp9939 - 2rb

Imgp9947 - 2rb

These two cards are for this week’s 2RedBananasBanana Split Sunday Challenge. The challenge for this week is to make a thank you card or a page with a gratitude theme. Please join us for the challenge!

Both of my cards use the branch with flowers from the set “Wrapped in His Love.” I inked it up with Stampin’ Up!’s Soft Suede ink, then colored the leaves with an Always Artichoke marker. I colored the flowers on the first card with a Dusty Durango marker and I used a Crushed Curry marker on the second card. For the first card, I used the sentiment from the same set. I matted the image and the sentiment with Always Artichoke and used my Scor-Pal to score lines on both sides of the panel. The sentiment on the second card is from the October’s release set called “Winter Wishes.” The butterflies are punched with a Martha Stewart punch out of Crushed Curry cardstock and have pearls for their bodies. I drew antennas with a Dusty Durango marker.

The second card is also done using this week’s Clean & Simple blog’s Fall-to Layout #69. Another fun sketch!

Another Fall-to Layout Card – Happy Birthday, Harriet!

For Harriet - 2009This is another card I made using Natasha Trupp’s Fall-to Layout #68. It’s for my friend, Harriet, whose birthday is on Tuesday.

The flowers are punched using a Stampin’ Up! punch and Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  The centers are cut from a pale yellow with a Cuttlebug die (at the same time as yesterday’s flowers – the flowers were “extras” from this card) and then I put Crystal Stickles on them and spread it out with my finger.  The panel is matted with Rich Razzleberry.  The ribbon tab is Purely Pomegranate ribbon from Stampin’ Up!  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink’s original set Paper Tray.

Fall-To Layout hello

Imgp9918

I made this card using Natasha Trupp's Fall-to Layout #68. You can find the sketch here.  (I see I didn’t include the ribbon tab.  Oh well.  I DID include it on another card I made that I will share with you after it has been received.)

Not much too it - the flowers are cut with a Cuttlebug die and they have pearls for their centers. The sentiment is from a Stampendous set. The pale yellow cardstock came from a scrap pack. I tell myself I am not going to buy them anymore – that I have plenty of colors to choose from.  But, quite often, I can’t find just the color I “need” and I am able to find what I’m looking for in my “scrap pack” box.  So, I guess I will just have to keep checking them out. :)

The Marvelous Magical Marquee Card – By JanTink

I saw this video last week, and I knew I had to give it a try.  It looks so cool.  But I had to show it opening and closing, so I tried my own video:)  It is totally unedited, but I had to upload it anyway!

If you have questions about anything I have used, please just send me an email.  But it’s pretty straightforward, I think.  I used her basic instructions, but my own tools, since I don’t have the punches she used.

Here are a couple still pictures of it.

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge … and the rest of my news

Imgp9914

I made this card using Taylor’s Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge from last week. (Thanks, Harriet, for pointing out my error!)

The patterned papers are all from Die Cuts With a View Holiday Collection – Winter Matstack and the matting is Night of Navy by Stampin’ Up!  The sentiment is by My Sentiments Exactly and is stamped with Night of Navy.  I cut and embossed it with a Petite Oval Nestability and mounted it on Pop Dots.  The butterfly is done using a Martha Stewart punch, and the body is rhinestones this time:)  That’s all there is to it!

Oh, I almost forgot the rest of my news!  The other announcement I’m making on a more personal level is that we are expecting a new grandchild – a girl this time!  She is due to arrive on April 3 – my husband’s birthday!  That would be pretty cool!  Our grandson was born on my mom’s birthday, so she would continue the tradition.  We’re pretty excited, to say the least. :)

SCS Limited Supplies Challenges – and some news …

IMGP9891

I made this card for SplitCoastStampers Limited Supplies Challenge #246.  The challenge was to make a thank you card with birds.

The bird stamps are by Inkadinkado – I picked them up last week from Michael’s with a 50% off coupon.  I just couldn’t resist.  :)  I paper pieced them and matted the image panel with paper from Die Cuts With a View Holiday Collection Winter Matstack. I colored the leaves and flowers with Stampin’ Up! markers.  The sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!’s Thank You Kindly set. The butterfly is done with a Martha Stewart punch and I added pearls for the body, of course:) The corners are punched with a Fiskars corner punch.

Oh yeah – I have a couple things to tell you.  I think I’ll spread them out over a couple days so you have to come back for the rest of it! LOL!!!  The first thing is – Jeanette from 2RedBananas asked me to continue on as a member of her design team!  How awesome is that!!!  I’m a permanent “banana.” :)  And, the other thing is a family thing …  I’ll be back with that one.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you’ll come back and visit again soon!

2RedBananas Sketch Challenge

Imgp9883 - 2rb

I made this card for this week’s 2RedBananas Banana Split Sunday Challenge.  The challenge this week is a sketch.  A random number will be drawn and the lucky winner will get their choice of one of the new 2RedBananas sets which will be released on Monday, November 23.  Please join us, and have some fun!

I used two of my new Cuttlebug embossing folders from Oh My Crafts.  I also added some scoring with my Scor-Pal under the snowflakes.  The matting is all Stampin’ Up!’s retired Soft Sky cardstock.  The sentiment is from 2RedBananas October release in the set called “Winter Wishes.”

EDITED TO ADD:  Sorry – this post should have been published on Sunday and not Saturday.  The 2RedBananas challenge starts on Sunday, November 15.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you’ll come back and visit again soon!

Happy Birthday to Ewe

Imgp9800

Today’s card was made for my good friend, Lucy.  We’ve been friends for many, many years – since we were in fifth grade, and that was a long time ago!  She likes sheep, hence my choice of stamp and sentiment.  Happy Birthday, Lucy!

The sheep is from Stampin’ Up!’s retired set called “Pasture Birthday.”  I colored it with SU! markers, then cut and embossed it with Oval Nestabilities.  The matting is Bordering Blue.  The image is mounted on Pop Dots.  The sentiment is computer-generated.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you’ll come back and visit again soon!

CAS Anniversary

Imgp9782 Well, I found a card that I haven’t uploaded here yet.  Good thing, because I have nothing new to share!  Haven’t had time to stamp much at all for a week.  So, here is a very simple anniversary card.

The image is from a Studio G set from JoAnn’s.  I stamped and colored it, then cut it out and matted it using Long Rectangle Nestabilities.  The Always Artichoke border is embossed with a Cuttlebug border folder.  I used my trusty Scor-Pal to score the lines beside the border.  The sentiment is by Hero Arts.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you’ll come back and visit again soon!

Anniversary for Terri

An anniversary card for a good friend and her husband:) This card is for last week's SplitCoastStampers Clean and Simple Challenge #39.

I decided to start with the patterned paper on this one - it's from Die Cuts With a View Fun in the Sun Summer Matstock. I really DO have lots of patterned paper, I just can never figure out how to use it! I matted it with Sage Shadow and a paper from Crayola that I got at a dollar store that I can't describe. It's kind of "holographic." The sentiment is from My Sentiments Exactly and is stamped with Sage Shadow. It's matted with the same papers. The butterfly is from the same holographic paper and has two pearls for the body. The base of the card and the sentiment are Very Vanilla.

We had a wonderful day yesterday. It's not often it's in the sixties on our anniversary! Thanks for all the good wishes.

Simple Sticker Card, and a Happy Anniversary ...

This card is for the SplitCoastStampers Ways to Use It challenge #243 - to use stickers. I made it to let my friend Cheryl know that I was thinking of her.

The paper is from Debbie Mumm - Baby Girl. The sticker is by Mary Englebreit. (It says "Friends are family you choose for yourself.") The sticker is matted on cardstock cut with Nestabilities. I used my Scor-Pal beside the center strip. The sentiment is computer-generated.

And the "Happy Anniversary," you may ask? That is to ME! :) and my husband, Jim. Today is our 35th Anniversary. Amazing!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon.

2RedBananas Banana Split Sunday Challenge - A Recipe

I made this card for this week's Banana Split Sunday challenge on 2RedBananas. It's a recipe challenge this week - three eyelets, two ribbons or fiber and one or more ovals. We'd love to have you join us!

I embossed the background with a new Cuttlebug snowflake folder and added my three eyelets. I matted it on Ballet Blue. The sentiment is from 2RedBananas' new October/November Journaling Spot and is cut and matted with ovals cut with Petite Oval Nestabilities. I added a sheer white ribbon and blue gingham. I made the snowflake with a punch.

EDITED TO ADD: I have been asked by several people where I got the CB folder. It came from Oh My Crafts. Here is a link to the set I got. If you sign up for their mailing list, you will get a coupon code for 20% off a purchase of $20 or more.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

SCS Sketch Challenge

This card is for SplitCoastStampers Sketch Challenge #253. The challenge states you can replace the triangle with another shape, so my shape is "acorn!"

The sentiment is from 2RedBananas' new October/November Journaling Spot. I masked it off and stamped the background with oak leaves from Stampin' Up!'s Lovely As a Tree in Versafine Vintage Sepia. The kraft panel is embossed with a Victoria Cuttlebug folder. The acorns (from the same 2RedBananas set) are paper pieced and mounted on Pop Dots.

"wanna play catch?"

I made this card last week, planned on posting it yesterday, but I forgot! So, here it is today.

The images on this card are from 2RedBananas' newest release. This set is called Jack and the Snowman. I colored him with Stampin’ Up! markers mostly – his skin is done with a Copic. I also put Stardust Stickles on the snowman and snowball and then rubbed it around with my finger, to give it just a little sparkle. The sentiment is mounted on Pop Dots. I matted Jack with Real Red cardstock and left extra on the right side to emboss with a Cuttlebug snowflake folder. I also used my Scor-Pal to make a dividing line between the image and the snowflakes. I rubbed some PTI Fresh Snow ink on the snowflakes. The red striped paper is from Die Cuts With a View.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you’ll come back and visit again soon!

November Calendar Page

Here is my November calendar page. I can't believe it's November already!! (Although, with the weather we've been having, it's seems like it's been November for a month already.)

The pumpkin image is from Inkadinkado. I colored it with markers and stamped it twice. The sentiment is from Stampendous. I sponged some orange around the edges. The image panel is mounted on shimmery orange paper. That's it!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

2RedBananas Banana Split Sunday Challenge - A Color Challenge

Today's card is for 2RedBananas Banana Split Sunday challenge. The challenge for this week is a color challenge: use red, yellow, orange and brown - or choose just three of the colors. There is a prize this week, too - "fall colors goodie bag" chosen for you by 2RedBananas! I hope you have fun by joining in the challenge:)

For my card, I chose to use Autumn Leaves Penny from October's release. I colored her with Stampin' Up! markers (and a Copic for her skin.) The background paper is from a "Slab" from Michael's. The image and mat are cut with Nestabilities. The mat is Ruby Red from Stampin' Up! The trim piece near the bottom is Soft Suede cardstock and is punched with a Martha Stewart punch and scored with a Scor-Pal. The leaves are done with a Tonic punch.

Tomorrow I will post my November calendar page. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!
