Happy Birthday, Dad!

It was my dad's 88th birthday on Wednesday. We'll be seeing him later today. This is the card I made for him. Usually he gets cards that "do something" or are a special fold. This year, he just gets a "card." :) And it's late!

Sometimes I look at Pinterest just to see which of my cards have been pinned. That's always fun. Yesterday I looked through my pinned cards and was inspired to case one of these cards that I've made. I cut the circle mask with a Nestability. I sponged through the hole with Baja Breeze and Sahara Sand inks. Then I stamped the tree image (from Stampin' Up!'s Serene Silhouettes) with Soft Suede ink. The sentiment is also from Stampin' Up! - from Curly Cute - and is stamped with Buckaroo Blue. I sponged around the edges with Sahara Sand and then again with Soft Suede and I matted with Soft Suede. I wanted a little something more, so I spritzed it with a shimmery coppery spray that I made using Perfect Pearls and water in a little spritz bottle. Of course, you can't see the shimmer.

Edited to add: This card is also for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge to make a Clean and Simple birthday card.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

  1. I am sure he will love it because a home made card always carries love to the one it is sent to. It is a very nice card as well. So manly. Please give him my birthday wishes.

  2. I've actuallty had that SU stamp in mind to stamp in black on a background. I really like what you did with it. The card has a very peaceful feeling to it.

  4. I love all your cards and this is no exception. They are usually simple, yet elegant, don't need a bunch of "stuff" piled on.
I never seem to succeed at getting a nice even spray when I try to spritz, whether its my own concoction, or glimmer mist etc....what's the secret? is there a special bottle to buy?

  7. Very pretty card. I always like sponging like this. It's easy, but when I've made cards similar to this they always get compliments.

And sometime when you have the time I have a question. You mentioned going to Pinterest to see what cards of yours have been pinned. I look around on Pinterest sometimes, but that's about it. Otherwise I'm not a user of any of the social media sites so have no idea how they work. Since there are gazillions of users pinning gazillions of cards, how are you able to find where yours have been pinned. I've wondered about this and that's neat that you can find out if any of your cards have been pinned. I know when I'm there looking at boards of cards, I always see cards from the various blogs I read so I have wondered if the people know when their cards get pinned.
