Silver Butterflies

Another card using one of my newer dies. I cut it out of silver "mirror" cardstock. The card base is a tri-fold card with the circle already cut out of it. I purchased them at our Group Gathering a few years ago. I embossed the front with an Anna Griffin embossing folder called "Matelasse." I cut a piece of blue vellum for the window. Before adding it, I embossed it with a Darice embossing folder called "WIre Fence." I cut the sentiment out of the silver cardstock, too, and added another layer under it for more dimension.

I had a visitor leave me a comment about the size of my matting and wondering how I did it. (Not on this card, though.) I cut my matting pieces 1/8 inch bigger than my image pieces. That gives me a 1/16 inch border. Not always, but usually. I use a Tonic guillotine cutter that I've had for many years. I love it! This is what it looks like. I did not get mine at Amazon, and I'm sure it's available many, many other places. It's just the easiest for me to link to quickly.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

  1. LOL! We really do have similar tastes! :) I also ordered this very same die from Amazon back in July! At the time I ordered this one, I also ordered quite a few others from about 8 different sellers. All of my orders have come in ahead of schedule except for the order with this and one other die. Funny thing is that all the other sellers were new to me but the one I ordered this die from I had ordered from before with no problems receiving the previous order. So hopefully my pretty butterflies will get here one of these days. I also ordered that same Happy Birthday die except the one I got has 3 balloons at the end instead of the "y" curling around. I think I like this one better than the balloons, but don't remember seeing it except as part of a set where it seemed to be very small. But, I have a ton of Memory Box and Poppystamps Happy Birthday dies so I guess I need to stop buying that particular sentiment for a while anyway! LOL!

Your card is lovely... a lot of things going on on that card.

  3. Very pretty! Those cards help with making a cool design without too much trouble. Love the wire fence embossing and the patterned paper which echoes it. Pretty die. Very delicate. I use a Stampin' Up guillotine cutter which I've had for many years. Never gets dull and it's amazing. I love it.
