"Negative Effect" Birthday

Welcome to first-time readers, and welcome back to those who are returning. Thank you for visiting!

I have filed this card under “Clean and Simple,” but I may have to make more categories, as most of my cards are Clean and Simple:) The technique on this card is what’s known on SCS (SplitCoastStampers) as the “Negative Effect” – putting color on your embossing folder and then embossing your cardstock. (This was a challenge on SCS a while back. You can find the challenge
here.) For this card, I brayered the back side of the Cuttlebug Paisley folder with Cameo Coral and inserted my cardstock partway into the folder. I just wanted the top part of my card front to be embossed with this folder. I then put the bottom part of my cardstock into a Cuttlebug Dotted Swiss folder and embossed it. The center scored lines are done with a Scor-Pal. I sponged lightly with Cameo Coral onto the Swiss Dots. The “Birthday!!” piece was embossed with a small Cuttlebug embossing folder from the Birthday Jelly set. I sponged Cameo Coral on that, too. This piece and the scalloped piece behind it were cut with Square Nestabilities and raised with Pop Dots. The entire front was mounted on Cameo Coral, and then on to the front of the card. A very simple card, but I like it.

Thanks for looking, and I hope you’ll come back and visit again soon!
