Daffodil Birthday

Well, this is my last card unless I get some stamping done today!  I sure hope I do.  I did manage to get a few things done in my stamping area, anyway.  I got some (OK - a LOT!) of new stamps cut and some other new things put away.  I also got an awesome package (thanks, Dana!) as blog candy.  Maybe tomorrow I'll post a picture of the fun "stuff" I got.

Today's card was inspired by this card from Makiko Jones.  I loved the way she embossed the image in white and then colored it.  I had never seen that done before and knew I had to try it. :)  Maki is a fellow Repeat Impressions Rock Star and is a new "Dirty Girl" at SplitCoastStampers.  Congrats, Maki!

I stamped the image (Repeat Impressions #904-L Daffodils) with Versamark and embossed with Detail White embossing powder.  I sponged with Stampin' Up!'s Soft Sky ink and then colored with Stampin' Up! markers.  I matted the image with Soft Sky, also.  The corners were rounded with a Fiskars corner rounder.  I embossed a piece of white with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder and added that to the top of the card.  The bottom panel is from Die Cuts With a View Nana's Nursery - Boy and added some ribbon.  The Daffodils panel is mounted on Pop Dots.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Birthday Basics, and is also embossed with white embossing powder.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

  1. Just yesterday I was thinking about embossing a design with white and then coloring it. That's as far as I got. :) I love this card!

  2. Oh how pretty. I have to do one of these. I never think to use white ep. I do it with black most of the time. Maybe I have time before we head out to the hospital!

  5. Another beautiful Birthday card! You certainly have made lots of them and given us all some very good ideas. I have used the technique that you used on your card and it is lovely. Thanks for reminding me just how pretty this technique makes a card look.

  7. What a lovely color combo and texture appeal this has. I had to go back a read your post carefully to make sure I knew how you added the swiss dots on the top half. I've tried without adding a layer there, but nothing turned out. I'd best just keep to the layering like you!
