For today's card, I used the die on white. I scored two lines near the edge of the die cut and then embossed the rest with a Sizzix folder. I matted with Pale Plum cardstock. The sentiment has been stamped and on my table for a while. It's from Verve. I matted with plum and mounted on foam squares. The butterfly on the sentiment is also from Memory Box.
Edited to add: Donna, you probably won't return here for your answer, but I have no other way to reach you. This die does not cut all the way to the left edge - it cuts just like this with no modifications. It's called "Kensington Border" and you can see it here.
The embossing was done with a folder from a Sizzix set called "Birthday Set 2."
Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!
So very pretty!! After seeing your cards I just did a search for this butterfly border die and luckily found one. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly speak the truth about the cost of dies like this!! I drooled over so many Memory Box and other brands of dies for a long time. Due to a VERY tight budget, I have a rule that I never pay full price for any of my crafting supplies. Finally, I came upon a Memory Box sale and was able to get a few of the dies I'd been wishing for for so long. But even on sale I'll be using them for many many cards (years) to come to justify the cost. This die really makes a lovely card. Maybe I'll add it to my wish list and if I'm lucky enough to find it on sale before they discontinue it, it might become part of my collection! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteStunning card. I really do like your work.Meg
ReplyDeleteAnother beauty! You made me look at my butterfly border die again. It's a Joy Craft and slightly different, but love it. I like how you added the perfectly matched butterfly by the sentiment. Speaking of the cost, you are so right, and I'd better get cracking!
ReplyDeleteLYNETTE, Both of your cards are Beautiful, but I Love this design the best. I haven't priced this die yet so wish me luck on finding a good sale.

Love this card but how did you cut it and get it to stay attached to the rest of the card?
ReplyDeleteMine cut all the way through when I run it through the Big Shot machine.
@Donna,I was wondering the same
ReplyDeleteYou wrote you embossed it with a sizzix folder? What is the name of the folder, thank you
ReplyDeleteI just soooo admire this card! I have the die but I am not sure I understand the technique to make it.. do I cut the die and then emboss the rest or emboss ad then cut the die? Please help I have to try this !!! TY so much!
ReplyDeleteHi thank you for your reply I did die cut it, embossed it but what size card is your card? thank you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card...I have the die and love it....could you please tell me the name of that embossing folder? ....been looking for it for a long time.
ReplyDeleteThank you ,
Carole Lovill
I am also confused because it does not look like the die cut all the way through. I thought when you die cut something it would cut through meaning you would then have to attach it with tape or some kind of an adhesive and then emboss the other side. Would you consider doing a tutorial? This card is absolutely beautiful, but I cannot figure it out. So sorry to be so confused. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I forgot to add my name.
