Happy Birthday, Danni!

It's Danni's birthday and some of us are celebrating with her. She's been kind of missing Flutter By Wednesday and thought this might help:) So, we're having a "Flutter By Hop."

For my card, I decided to go with a stair-step card. I had never done a portrait-oriented step card before, so it was kind of fun to work out the dimensions. I like the way it turned out. I started with the border on the left, which was cut with a Memory Box die. I cut it again and used some of the pieces. I added gems to the flower centers. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. The main image is also from Papertrey. I stamped it on white and matted with matching pink.

Flutter By Wednesday - Thanks/Thankful

For my card, I went really simple. Imagine that! LOL! But, this is even simpler than usual. The background is a sheet of patterned paper. It's from a small matstack from Jodie Lee Designs that I purchased a couple years ago at a small scrapbooking store on our way home from a mini vacation. I just trimmed it down, stamped the sentiment (from a retired Stampin' Up! set called Thank You Kindly) with SU! Soft Suede, and matted with Soft Suede cardstock. We'd love to see what you all come up with!

Flutter By Wednesday - A Sketch

This week's Flutter By Wednesday challenge is another great sketch by Design Team member, Kathy. We'd love to have you join in the fun! For my card, I did something different for me. I started with the papers, working my way from the bottom up. It seems I usually work from the top down:) The papers are from a stack I bought at Michael's, but I cut it into six by six pieces and threw away the cover sheet, so I can't tell you who it's made by. Sorry. I chose to use this whimsical butterfly stamp from Inkadinkado. I colored with Copics. The sentiment (from Papertrey Ink) replaces the ribbon in the sketch. I guess I just kind of forgot about/ignored the three dots at the top of the panel. LOL! (Sorry, Kathy!) Looking at the card in the picture, I can see that I put the butterfly piece on crooked:( Maybe I can get it off and straighten it up.

Flutter By Wednesday - Open Challenge

I had these three butterflies sitting on my desk. They were cut from an Easter card I was working on. (Yes, silly me! Working on an Easter card. I don't even SEND Easter cards! LOL!) I glued them to a small piece of blue cardstock and embossed with a Sizzix folder. Then I matted with the same color cardstock using foam squares, after rounding the corners. I embossed a strip of the same cardstock and glued it to the card base. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. It's not exactly a fall card, but it will keep til next spring!

Flutter By Wednesday - Brown

Time for this week's Flutter By Wednesday challenge. The challenge is to use brown - and a fairy or butterfly, of course! When I thought "brown" and "butterflies," the two didn't mix very well in my mind. But I'm relatively happy with the way this turned out. I sponged three Stampin' Up! colors on a masked-off strip. (Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Close to Cocoa.) Then I used Chocolate Chip to stamp the butterflies (from Inkadinkado) and the sentiment (from Inky Antics.) I matted the panel with Chocolate Chip cardstock.

It's a little hard to see in the picture, but the butterfly is a dark purple with a black lacy overlay. They were cut with a Memory Box die. The sentiment is from a retired Stampin' Up! set. I used the sketch from this week's CAS on Sunday challenge.

Flutter By Wednesday - Remake!

This week's Flutter By Wednesday challenge is to use any color except orange and black. I had missed the "no black" part. Ooops. So, I made another card just like yesterday's, except that it fits the challenge.

The sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts. I inked it up with gray ink and then colored the words "happy" and "birthday" with a pink marker. I matted with gray cardstock. The butterfly was punched with a Marvy punch. I really love yesterday's butterfly, but it's a Memory Box die that I had borrowed from someone, so I couldn't do one like that for today's card. I colored the antennae gray and added two gray gemstones to the body. Now I feel better:)

Flutter By Wednesday - Color Challenge

Time for a new Flutter By Wednesday challenge. Today's challenge is a pretty easy one - just make your card using a butterfly or fairy and use any colors you want except orange or black! Upload your card to your blog or on-line gallery and link it up to the Flutter By Wednesday blog. As always, if there are one hundred or more entries, there will be a prize awarded. I had hardly set foot in my stamping room the last three weeks or so. We've been at the hospital with Wyatt, having Owen a little extra, been out of town ... the list goes on. At any rate, I took just a few minutes last night and made this card. I sat in my room for a little bit in the afternoon and planned the card, then made it in the evening (after coming home from bowling.) The sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts. I inked it up with Going Gray ink from Stamping Up! and used a pink marker to highlight the "happy" and "birthday." The butterfly is one I die-cut in Des Moines in June at our Group Gathering. It was cut with a Memory Box die, I believe. I added a couple pink gems to the body. And you will note - I messed up!!! I had written down on my calendar that the challenge was to use any colors except orange and had missed the part about no black. Oops! Sorry, Danni!

Update on Wyatt: He seems to be steadily improving now. Whew! He is taking his bottles better and is gaining weight daily. He MAY be able to go home next week! That would be so awesome. It's been three weeks now since he was admitted. Poor little thing! Thanks to you all for your prayers.

Our infant grandson, Wyatt, is still in the hospital. He's been there for two weeks now. He totally has them baffled as to what's wrong with him. He has to have three good days in a row before they will let him go home, and so far, he hasn't had one. All prayers for him would be greatly appreciated! We thank you for the many, many prayers we have received so far. He was born on September 19, nearly three weeks early.

Time for a new Flutter By Wednesday challenge. Thanks to all of you who participated in last week's challenge! The challenge this week is a recipe: use three patterned papers, three embellishments, and sparkle. Along with your butterfly or fairy, of course! I certainly did find this challenging! I mean, really - I have a hard time using ONE patterned paper. LOL! I was satisfied with my submission, though. I think it even ended up Clean and Simple:) Almost the hardest part was the three embellishments. My papers are all from a matstack that I bought at Michael's last week, but I don't remember who made it! (It was 12 x 12 and I cut it up into 6 x 6 pieces and I guess I threw away the cover sheet.) The butterfly stamp is from Recollections and I colored it very plainly with Copics. I added Star Dust Stickles to the wings. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. My three embellishments are the two gems on the antennae and the gem between the Happy and Birthday.

For my card, I used another digital image from Digital Two for Tuesdays. (You can find this image here.) A lot of you know how much I love stamped flowers, with my favorite being daisies:) I colored my image with Copics, added Star Dust Stickles to the wings, matted with black and mounted on foam squares. The patterned paper background is from Die Cuts With a View. The sentiment, stamped in black, is from a Papertrey set.

Flutter By Wednesday - a Sketch

A new Flutter By Wednesday challenge begins today. And it's another great sketch by team member, Kathy. I have included the sketch here, and you can also find it on the FBW blog page. I created my card using Hero Arts stamps. My card base and main panel are light gray cardstock. The solid gray is Going Gray by Stampin' Up! The patterned paper on the bottom is from a Recollections matstack. I cut the main panel with a Nestability, embossed it, and then colored the edge with a Going Gray marker. I cut the scalloped oval with the same light gray. The solid gray piece along the bottom was cut with a Fiskars rotary cutter. I added some scoring to that strip with my Martha Stewart scoring board. I also added scoring to the gray panel behind the main image. The butterflies were cut with a Martha Stewart butterfly punch and then I added black gems.

Today's card is for a friend who loves purple! The patterned paper is from one of my oldest matstacks from Die Cuts With a View. The white layer was cut with a Spellbinders die. (It's a gorgeous die I used while in Des Moines at our Group Gathering.) The sentiment is from a retired Stampin' Up! set and the butterfly was a gift from Andrea at our Group Gathering last year. I guess this is rather a "Group Gathering" card, because I bought the matstack at our first one, many years ago! LOL. Can't wait to see your fluttery creations!

Flutter By Wednesday - Autumn Colors

A new Flutter By Wednesday challenge begins today. Thanks to all of you who joined in last week's hop! The challenge for this week is to use autumn colors. Create your cards using fall colors and a butterfly or fairy and link it up to the FBW blog.

I'm SO not ready for fall! I started with a piece of ivory cardstock. I stamped the butterfly (Inkadinkado) and the sentiment (Stampendous) with Pumpkin Pie ink from Stampin' Up! I punched the border with a Fiskars punch and added the scoring with my Martha Stewart scoring tool. I added Pumpkin Pie cardstock only under the punched-out area. I matted with Crushed Curry and Close to Cocoa. The patterned paper is from a Recollections seasons pad and is matted with Close to Cocoa. Can't wait to see your creations!

Here’s my project for today. I used a lot of Memory Box die cuts on this one. I cut them while I was at our Group Gathering in June. The flowers, the "celebrate" and the butterfly are all from Memory Box. The yellow is some paper I've had since I began stamping! I added yellow pearls to the flowers.

Flutter By Wednesday - Shaped Card

This week's Flutter By Wednesday challenge is to make a shaped card - no squares or rectangles allowed! :) Be sure to include your butterfly or fairy, then link it up to the FBW blog.

I decided to go with a heart card. We have a wedding to go to on Saturday, so this is for the new bride and groom. I used QuickKutz dies for the hearts and doves. The doves are cut from shimmery silver. The butterflies were punched with a Martha Stewart punch from the same silver. I used dark gray gems for the eyes of the doves and the butterflies. The stamps are from an Inkadinkado set and are embossed with silver. The stripes in the black paper are silver, also. Oh, and I put a little Versamark along the edges of the white heart and added silver embossing powder to that, too.

I've been trying to use up some of my "Card Parts" and that's how this card started. The stamped circle and sentiment were already to use. I rounded the corners and matted with black. The butterflies were punched with a Martha Stewart punch. The strip down the middle was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. The patterned paper is from a Recollections stack.

Flutter By Wednesday returns today with everyone's favorite challenge - any winged creature! We are sponsored this week by Inky Impressions. The design team was given three images to choose from. I chose this Wishing Well image. I colored it with Copic markers and added some Star Dust Stickles to the bird and to the water in the pail. I matted with black. The border along the left side and the sentiment were both cut with dies. I made them while I was at our Group Gathering in Des Moines in June. The sentiment is from Memory Box (or at least I'm pretty sure it is) and the border die is from Papertrey Ink.
