Four Christmas Cards

I have several things going on in my stamping room. I was playing with crinkled and ironed wax paper. I also played with vellum over cardstock and then embossed. And I dug out some bird dies that I had. (Thanks, Leslie, for two of those!) I also got a new kit from Gina K and I really want to get started on using all the new stuff! Lucky for me I'm going away for a few days with a friend and her friends on a scrapbooking retreat. But, I will be making cards instead. Hopefully it will be very productive. I've also been messing around with rearranging my stamping room a bit. It's always something. :-)

Anyway, here are four cards I've made. I'm going to save my ironed, wrinkled wax paper for another time. I have eight card fronts that I've used that technique on, just waiting to be used.

This first card uses a Sizzix embossing folder. I used white mulberry paper over cardstock for the base for this embossed and die-cut bird, which I believe is from Spellbinders. The sentiment is from Impression Obsession.

This one also uses a Spellbinders die. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. The background is vellum over a mottled light green cardstock and then embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, I believe.

The dies for these ornaments are from Spellbinders. I used one to cut the bottom of the cardfront, too, so the bottom of the card that you see is actually on the inside.

The texture on this card is the wax paper that was left over from the pieces that I used as a resist on my as-yet-unused card panels.

Hummingbird Thinking of You

Another embossed panel from my card parts - two more to go! I die-cut the colorful hummingbird and popped him up. The die-cut sentiment is also popped up. The background was done with a Sizzix embossing folder.

Cattail Birthday

I used a Sizzix folder and brayered ink on to it before embossing. I was working on a different card, but was not happy with that one, but I salvaged this part of the embossed cardstock. I had already run my brayer over some white cardstock to clean it off as much as possible, and I decided to keep that piece and use it. Of course the two pieces matched exactly. :-) I matted the embossed piece with black and looked through my dies and found this one to use. The sentiment is from Gina K and was in my parts. I blended matching ink over it and popped it up.

Hummingbirds - On Cards

Well, I actually finished up the cards using the hummingbird dies from a few days ago. I also used up other card part pieces. This die-cut piece was in my parts, again from many years ago. I used a new-to-me stencil from Gina K for the design behind the hummingbird. The sentiment is from Gina K, also. I added the green strip behind the die-cut leaf pattern. All of the hummingbirds are popped up.

I ink-blended the green on the left side under the die-cut leaves. Again, the stencil used behind the hummingbird and the sentiment are from Gina K.

This frame pieces was left-over and I ink-blended to make it the color I wanted. The background was embossed with a Sizzix folder. The sentiment is popped up and is from Gina K.

The same as the second one, but the hummingbird is facing the other direction.

More Birthday Flowers

A birthday card using the same stamp, stencils and die as yesterday's anniversary card. It is again popped up on foam squares, as is the sentiment. All are from Gina K. I embossed the background with a Sizzix embossing folder. I added the patterned paper to each side and added thin strips of metallic stickers.

Christmas Tree in Red

Well, MAYBE this one will be my last Christmas card for a while! (That makes 21 for next year.)This is the last of the pieces on my table. I can't figure out why I had so many! This one is a bookbinder style card. The red panel was embossed with a Sizzix folder. The sentiment is from Gina K. The die is from Taylored Expressions.

Today starts Gina K's 12 Days of Christmas. I bought the box and I'm looking forward to opening one package every day until December 23rd and seeing what's in there and maybe using each item on the day it's opened.

Gold Foil Birthday

A birthday card with gold foil over black. Really hard to see in this photo - well, actually impossible! You can see how it really looks in the photo to the left, except the top is not black, either. The image and die are from Gina K. I cut out the image from black cardstock, too, and offset it from the gold one and popped it up on foam squares. The sentiment was printed on my computer and foiled and also popped up. The background was embossed with a Sizzix folder and matted with black.

Warm Christmas Wishes

Another Christmas card using the holly corner punch - this time in the corners. :-) The sentiment again is from Lawn Fawn and this time I added a green metallic sticker at the top of the sentiment panel. The red background was embossed with a Sizzix folder and I added Nuvo drops for the berries.

More Christmas Joy

I told you I'd be back with more of these. Such a lovely die! I added the letter pieces inside the die cuts and taped them in with some regular tape, then popped up the full thing with foam squares. I embossed the background with a folder. I think it's from Sizzix, but it's possible it's a Cuttlebug folder.

Hard to tell, but I cut the letters out of the same patterned paper as the background.

Same as the first one, but with reverse die-cutting.

Musical Birthday

A very quick card for today. A couple weeks ago, I was looking through my supplies to see if there was anything that I could get rid of. I came across my Stampin' Up! Coluzzle system. Anyone remember those?? It was before dies! I had to try it out, for old time's sake. I cut these two circles with it. (It also cuts ovals.) Of course, I couldn't toss them. One was white, so I used a blending brush to add slight color around the edges and added the purple circle over it. Then I embossed them with a Sizzix folder and mounted on foam squares. The music die cut was in my card parts and I added it on top of the circles. The sentiment is stamped and die-cut with a Gina K set and popped up. I embossed the background piece with a Darice embossing folder.

Flowery Thinking of You

Our daughter-in-law's mom just had her knee replaced and this is the card that I made for her. I used my newest Gina K set - stamps, stencils, and dies. I also used her Master Layouts 3 die set, which I got for my birthday. I embossed the background with a Sizzix embossing folder. I also added a little sparkle to the flower centers with some Star Dust Stickles. The images and sentiment are popped up on foam squares.

Wishing You Strength

The main panel on this card was a scrap from my SCT class. I thought it was kind of cool and wanted to use it for something. So I added the sentiment (from Recollections) and matted it with black. The background was embossed with a Sizzix folder.

December Calendar Page

And my final calendar page from 2024. Where did the time go???

The tree is embossed with a small Sizzix folder and the paper is from The Paper Studio. That's it!

Wreath Builder Christmas

While looking through my stamp sets, I noticed this little pine branch/bough in one of the Gina K sets. I thought it would work well for using with the wreather bulder template, also from Gina K. I stamped it with two colors in two different directions. Then I added the red circles using two stamps from the wreath builder stamp set. I matted and popped up the image panel. The background was embossed with a Sizzix folder and then matted.

Happy 50th Anniversary, Doug and Barb!

Our daughter-in-law's parents are celebrating their 50th anniversary today. Congrats, Barb and Doug! Here is the card that I made for them. I saw this style of card on Jennifer McGuire's YouTube channel. I embossed gold-foiled cardstock with a Sizzix folder for each of the panels. Most of the wording was done with my JustRite stamper - from the olden days! LOL! The "50th" is from TPC Studio. I used gold embossing powder for all of the sentiment. I added some die-cut leaves on each side of the sentiment.
There is a panel attached to one side of the back - white with the gold matting. The gold cardstock has kraft on the back, unfortunately. :-( Oh well.

Calendar Leftovers - Part Three

I used the embossed side for one of these cards and the debossed side for the other. I'm not sure which one I like better! I simply matted the images and added the sentiment. I really do love Clean and Simple! The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Blue Snowflakes

I think I have come up with a new technique, but I'm not sure. At least I have never seen it before that I can recall. Not sure how I like it, anyway. I cut the snowflakes out of copy paper and placed them on an inked up embossing folder (from Sizzix) before embossing with it, and then removed them. At first I didn't think they were defined enough, but I think I do like them now. The sentiment is from Gina K and is popped up on foam squares.
I put the snowflakes in the folder again to make another one and noticed that they got darker with more ink. So I glued them on.
And for this one, I used a piece of cardstock that I had cleaned my brayer on. I glued some copy paper snowflakes on it and ran it through my machine to embed them.

This may be all I post until after Christmas. I'm not sure I'll have any more time in my stamping room. The calendar is pretty full! But, on the other hand, things are mostly under control so maybe I'll get a chance to play!

Silver Snowflakes

These snowflakes were all in my card parts. I used silver shimmery paper with them. The sentiments are all Gina K. The embossing on the last card was done with a Sizzix folder.

Christmas #2

Two more simple Christmas cards. They both use unbranded stamps which are in my giveaway pile now! I don't really like the stamps that came with the set. It came with dies and the tree die doesn't even match the size of the stamp! I cut it out by hand. I embossed the background on the first one with a Sizzix folder. The sentiment is from Impression Obsession, I think. The image is gold embossed and I used gold glitter cardstock.
I embossed the trees with green embossing powder and added Nuvo drops. The sentiment is from Gina K. I used foil on the pre-printed strip.

Soft Grateful

This frame was the last of the card parts I had taken out to use a while ago. I guess it's time to pull some more out! I added an embossed white piece behind it. The folder I used is from Sizzix and is long retired. I love this one! The "Grateful" die and shadow is from Gina K. I ink-blended the shadow piece. I also ink-blended the die-cut flower. (The frame had been ink-blended, also, a long time ago.) I added a few sequins from Gina K around the flower.
