Purple Ornaments

I've still had this die-cut image of four ornaments with the mirror cardstock behind it on my table for a while. I finally finished it up. I scored lines above and below the ornaments, then added thin metallic strips. The sentiment is from a new Kristina Werner/Concord & 9th set. The set is part of the bundle of stamps, dies and stencils for the upcoming Online Card Class. I stamped it and then die cut it and four more pieces and layered them together. The purple metallic strips and the purple behind the ornaments don't match perfectly, but they  match a lot better in real life than they do in the photo!

"Woven" Anniversary

One night last week, I was either dreaming, half-conscious, or awake during the night and I spent hours working on this card in my head!! I was even doing measurements. When I woke up the next morning, I made a diagram, so I wouldn't forget. It was a horrible night's sleep, but here is the card that came of it. I made slits in the cardstock, embossed it, and then took ribbon and wove it through. The sentiment is several (about five) layers of black cardstock. I matted with black and added it to a white card base.

Sunflower Warm Wishes

Wow, time flies!! Life has been busy, for sure. I DID finish up my calendars, though, so that makes me very happy. They are all ready for the wrapping paper.

For this card (using extra pieces from my calendars) I used Gina K stamps and dies and colored with Copic markers. The background was embossed with an Anna Griffin/Cuttlebug folder and then rubbed with a white pigment ink. The sentiment was stamped and die cut, and I also die cut many extras and layered them for added dimension. The flower and leaves are popped up, too.

We are definitely enjoying the beautiful fall weather here in Minnesota!

Ornament Christmas

Another Christmas card for the stash. I used Spellbinders dies for this one. I backed it with a purple mirror cardstock. The ornament toppers are cut from holographic silver. The sentiment is embossed with silver, and I added a very thin strip of silver sticker across the top of the panel.

Special Fold in Purple

Most everything on this card is from Gina K - the stamps, stencils and dies. The background is from Gina K, also. I used a printed toner sheet and foiled it with purple foil using my Gina K Fuse. The flowers and sentiment are popped up.

Happy 13th Birthday, Wyatt!-

Wyatt, our youngest grandchild, turned 13 last Saturday! He was so excited to become a teenager. Here is the card we made for him.

A few weeks ago, he and Grandpa were in the State Special Olympics golf tournament. That's when we took this photo. Grandpa told him to act like a crazy driver. To be clear - he was not afraid and he wasn't driving. 

And here is the inside of the card. 

They had an amazing birthday party for him - all his ideas. A giant Candyland game (Wyattland), his brother's band, an outdoor movie and lots of family and friends. Lots of food, too.

Instructions for Yesterday's Card

Someone asked for the dimensions of yesterday's card. I added it to yesterday's post, but in case someone needs them and doesn't realize they are there, here they are again.

Cut one piece of white to 11 x 1 3/4 inches. Score at 1 3/4, 3 1/2, 5 1/4, 7, 8 3/4 and 10 1/2 inches. Cut another piece 8 x 1 3/4 inches and score at 1 3/4, 4 and 6 1/4. Cut patterned paper into six 1 5/8 x 1 5/8 inch squares. Adhere the 1/2 inch end of the 11 inch piece to the other end of it. This is your base. Glue the ends of the 8 inch piece inside of the base. My sentiment panel is 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 inches. This is the gist of it. If you need more detailed instructions, just let me know.

Hexagonal Base Warm Wishes

I decided to make another card with a hexagonal base. This time I changed the measurements so that it would fit into a standard A2 envelope. The sentiment is from Gina K, and the ephemera is also from Gina K. It came with a kit a few years ago - sheets of printed ephemera and a die to cut them all out at one time.

EDITED TO ADD: Here are the dimensions for this card. Cut one piece of white to 11 x 1 3/4 inches. Score at 1 3/4, 3 1/2, 5 1/4, 7, 8 3/4 and 10 1/2 inches. I came across this flower that had been die-cut and laying around. I almost tossed it, but I made this simple card instead. I used a Gina K stencil for the background. I stamped the sentiment on the white panel, added the flower, and then stamped over it again. Then I added the panel to the card and added the thin black strips.

Birthday in Blue, and a Bonus

I had this piece out for the card in my last post, but didn't use it. So, I made this card instead. The image and sentiment stamps are from Gina K. I colored with Prismacolor pencils. The matting layer is glittery gold.

I post all of the cards that I make, so I have to share this one. I'm sure it's VERY similar to another I've posted, but I didn't look at anything when I made this one. The stamps and stencil set are all from Gina K. I added a few nail head stickers to this one.

Hexagonal Base Card

I've seen Liz use this layout a few times, and I like it so I finally decided to give it a try. I didn't do things quite right, but here is my first attempt. (You can see her latest blog post using this layout here. She includes a link to the instructions.) It's actually quite a simple card, but I managed to do it wrong. I found this rectangle piece in with my patterned paper and thought I would use it. I had planned to stamp it horizontally and I ended up doing it vertically. Now I don't have an envelope that it will fit in! I think I'll end up taking the large rectangle off and putting something else on it. The stamps are from Gina K. I colored with Copic markers.

Here is the back. I decided to use another piece of patterned paper on it. That is where I will sign it. It does fold flat. Mine is just too big. 😁

Another Punch

I thought the punch I had out on my table was ready to throw away, but I tested it again, and it worked fine. It actually even punches around corners. Took me a few tries before I could successfully make it around four corners, though! So, I had lots of scraps to use. Here is what I did with those pieces.

This first one uses a stamp and a stencil, both from Gina K.

Here is my one piece where I made it all the way around. This one uses four stamps from one Gina K set - a couple stamped in gray and a couple in black.

And this last one uses a stencil set and a stamp from Gina K.

More Foiled PIeces

And here are the other foiled pieces I mentioned on Saturday. These were all printed pieces from Gina K. I used different colored foils and my Gina K Fuse machine. I look forward to making cards with these when I finally have the time!

We've had things piling up - waiting for us to sell them or give them away. We used Facebook Marketplace. They are mostly gone now. Yippee!! That can actually be stressful, we found out. Also, just so much to do and time flies! Hopefully we will be caught up soon.

Hot Foiling with Embossing Folders.

I went on a foiling frenzy recently, and here are some pieces that I made. These were made using a technique new to me, but when I looked on YouTube, creators were doing this at least eight years ago! You use an embossing folder directly with the Glimmer, instead of the foiling plate. Doesn't damage the folder at all. I used the negative plate so I got two pieces of some of them. I thought I'd share these and then I'll eventually share what I make with them. I also did a lot of foiling with pieces from Gina K which I will share soon, also.

Ink on Rubber

Our granddaughter spent an afternoon with me in my stamping about a month ago, and she wanted to try this technique - among other things. So, I found this Rubber Stampede wood-mounted rubber stamp and used markers directly on it and spritzed with water. The sentiments are both from My Favorite Things.

Simple Thanks

Gosh, I had SO many cards made earlier and had blog posts for over a month scheduled. They are all done already!  I just haven't had time to play in my stamping room much at all. Here is a very simple thank you card that I made a couple days ago. I was sorting through my dies a little bit and came across this little die/embossing plate from Stampin' Up! I'm not even sure where I got it. But, I cut it out about four times and layered them, then dragged a blue ink pad across it to highlight the embossing. I found some patterned paper that worked and matted it. Done!

We got back a couple weeks ago from a river boat trip in The Netherlands and Belgium. It was supposed to be on the Rhine and mostly in Germany, but low water levels forced that trip to be canceled. It was a great trip, though, and we traveled with ten other friends. I still hope to do the Rhine River trip some time soon.

September Calendar Page

And it's already time for the September calendar - can you believe it??? I'm not sure that I can. The background stencil is from Gina K, as are the leaf stamps. I embossed them in silver. I didn't make a note of it, but I'm pretty sure that the sentiment stamp is from Gina K, also.

Happy 46th Birthday!

Our son's birthday was a few days ago, and here is the card we made for him. Tradition is for us to make a card with a photo of a professional athlete who wore the jersey number of our son's age. Well, as he gets older, that gets harder and harder! LOL! So this year, we used two superstars who wore #23 and used them both - hence 46! (That's our son in the middle. :-)) The sentiment uses letters and numbers from a die that I got awhile back and hadn't used yet. I thought it was cool that the photos had both athletes looking towards the middle.

The bottom of the image panel was punched with an older border punch. I added the flowers to the white panel using stencils from Gina K. The sentiment is from Gina K. I embossed it with black on gold and popped it up. The butterfly was in with my parts.

Patterned Paper Christmas Cards

A few weeks ago, I made these Christmas cards - I was thinking about how fast time is flying!! They all feature patterned paper, so I'm linking this post to the "Love Those Pretty Papers Challenge" blog.

Old Punches #4

I used an old border punch on the bottom of this panel and matted with gold. The sentiment is from Gina K and is gold-embossed. The flowers and leaves are from an older set from Gina K. I stamped them on patterned paper and die-cut them. I added a little extra color on the leaves with a Copic marker, and also added color to the flower centers. The flowers are popped up.

Three more cards done with old border punches. I also scored lines with my Scor-Pal beside the punched borders. The butterfly stamps and sentiment are from Gina K. I used gold embossing powder on this first card, older gold embossing powder on the second, and silver on the third.

I used more old punches to make these cards - the flowers and the leaves. The backgrounds on each are done with Gina K stencils. The second card also has a punched border at the bottom of the sentiment panel. The sentiments are both from Gina K. I used another ancient item - brads - for the flower centers.
