Thinking of You

I actually spent a little time in my stamping room a couple days and I made this card. I wanted to use a stencil and rotate it. So, I took my Gina K diagonal stripes stencil and used Gina K inks. First I did the light purple one way, then turned the stencil and did the greenish stripes in the other direction. Then I took a fine-line black marker and added those lines. Just what I needed - a piece of patterned paper! :) I matted with matching cardstock. I embossed the white strip with a Cuttlebug border folder. The image with sentiment is from a set by Hampton Arts. I colored with Copic markers - not an exact match, but a bit better in real life.

Two More Thinking of You Cards

Here are two more cards that I made for our church. They are identical except for the patterned paper background. The stamps I used are from Papertrey Ink. I used Kaleidacolor ink for the flowers. I added Wink of Stella to the flowers. The background papers are from Die Cuts With a View.

Thinking of You

I found out that even though our church has been closed since last March, some people are still buying cards there. The sympathy and "thinking of you' cards were all gone and the birthday cards were quite depleted. So, I took a break from my card-making break and got some cards together to bring up to church. I had plenty of birthday cards to donate, but only had one sympathy and two "thinking of you" cards. I made eight sympathy cards - two each of four styles. They were pretty much remakes of cards I've made in the past, so I'm not even going to share them here. I also made two of this card. I may make a few more "thinking of you" cards before I deliver them - or bring them to someone else to deliver, since I don't have a key for the church.

I used Stampin' Up! stamps for the image and the sentiment. I colored the rubber stamp with markers before stamping. I added teeny-tiny Nuvo drops to the flower centers. I used a Gina K stencil for the background.

My card-making break has been quite productive. It's amazing how much a person can get done when they are not stamping! LOL! I finished embroidering dishtowels for our daughter-in-law. (They were for her birthday last year, which is in December. I finished them before her this year's birthday!) I finished sorting through my mom and dad's things and got them on the first leg of their journey to my brother in Atlanta. (I still have the photos and all the letters that my dad sent home while he was in WWII. My plan is to scan all of them and share them with family.) I got caught up on my GAMES World of Puzzles magazines. I love them, and am so happy to realize that they are back in business. I was down to the bottom of my list, which is to do some reading. I hadn't quite started that, though, when I went back to card-making.

Happy Tenth Birthday, Owen!!

Well, our middle grandson, Owen, turned double-digits today. Amazing!! Here is the card that WE made for him. Jim often has the ideas and I execute them, after agreeing with him, of course:)

Owen plays an app game on his phone with his cousins in Chicago. It's called "Among Us." That's what this card is about. We went on-line and grabbed the images.

I printed this image three times. I matted with red and black. I cut out the red body and cut the eye area out. I added a piece of acetate. I also cut out the hand. Both of these layers are mounted on foam squares. I printed the sentiment out - white text with a black background - and mounted it on foam squares, too.

Here is the inside of the card. I cut out the eye area again, this time adding Owen's eyes and another piece of acetate. I printed the birthday boy sentiment again on the computer and added it. I'm pretty sure he'll find this one to be pretty cool :)

Here is my one Hanukkah card for the year. The background is a snowflake pattern from Gina K that I foiled with blue foil and matted. The sentiment was done on the computer and foiled with silver. I matted it with mirror cardstock and mounted on foam squares.

Taking a Break

I am going to be quite scarce for a while. I have things that I really WANT to do (like reading, stitching, puzzling and much more) and I just don't take time for those things. I'm sure I won't be able to stay out of my stamping room completley, so I may pop in now and then with a new card.

Pet Sympathy

A friend recently lost a furry family member. This is the card that I made for her. I die cut the window out of a piece of ivory cardstock. Then I used a Fiskars texture plate to emboss the pawprints in the background. I added the die-cut sentiment, and popped the panel up on foam squares.

I had embossed the panel on this card using the texture plate before I gave it enough thought to realize that if I used the die to cut the window in it, I would un-emboss the pawprints. So I left it as is, and did the other panel for the first card. But of course I had to use this panel. I also used the rectangle left-over from the window on the first card for this one.

Washi Tape Birthday

I keep seeing my Washi tape, but it goes unused. I finally put some of it on a card. I simply added the Washi tape diagonally across a panel of ivory cardstock. Then I added that panel to an ivory card base. I cut the sentiment using a die. The sentiment panel is mounted on foam squares.

November Color Swap - Navy and Cream

Our stamping group's color swap for this month is navy and cream. Here is my card. The image is from Repeat Impressions. The sentiment is from The Paper Company. I cut the rectangles, then put them together in my MISTI and stamped the image. I matted each rectangle with navy.

I actually made another Thanksgiving card this year. So, I thought I would post it today. Happy Thanksgiving!

The flower stamps are all from Gina K, as is the sentiment. Sorry you can't read the sentiment very well. It says, "There is always something to be grateful for." The flower and the leaves are mounted on foam squares. This card was made to fit into a legal size envelope. I used ivory cardstock.

Christmas Blessings

I used two stamps from a Stampin' Up! for this simple card. The patterned paper is really old SU! paper, also. I added thin strips of plain green along each edge of the panel. I did my coloring with Copic markers and added some Nuvo drops to the flower centers. Edited to add: Not that it really matters, but I think I did the coloring with the Zig Clean Color brush markers.

Left-Over Rectangles

These rectangles were left over from the gift card boxes that I just made. I thought I'd use them on a card instead of tossing them. (I did toss one of each color.) The snowflakes are die-cut. I layered two of them together for each red rectangle. I left the middle pieces in the bottom layer of each one, and colored them light blue. I also added Wink of Stella to each snowflake. The stamping was done with Versamark and white embossing powder. The tree stamp and sentiment stamp are from a Recollections set. I don't have the exact measurements right now, but it's not an A2. Edited to add: The finished card is 3.5 x 6.5 inches.

Gift Card Card-Box

Slide and Lock Christmas

Another card using a technique I saw on the blog of Karen Titus. Here is a link to the video of it. This is a standard gatefold card. But, the circle piece slides on and off and holds the card closed. I used a smaller sliding piece than Karen did. Also, I used thin paper for the inner circles. When I used cardstock, I felt the gap between the two sides was too large.

The paper is all from The Paper Studio. The snowflake, sentiment and circles were all cut with dies. Quite a simple card, actually.

Swirly Circle Christmas

This is another card design I saw in a video. You just cut three circles of different sizes. Then you cut them each in half and stack them like you see them above. It looks swirly! I embossed the background with a Darice folder, matted it, and added a strip of green with gold foil cardstock on top of that. Easy peasy!

Accordion Card

I recently watched a video showing this card. The papers are all from a Gina K pack called "Casual Friday." The stamps are from Verve. I die-cut the sentiment circle and the matting for it.

Fall "Any Reason" Card

A simple fall card that could be used for just about anything. The leaves are a stamp from Gina K. I colored them with Zig Clean Color markers. The background was embossed with a Darice folder. I matted each of those pieces with orange. I mounted the leaf panel on foam squares. The card base and embossed panel are ivory.

Happy Thanksgiving

I rarely make Thanksgiving cards, but here is one for this year. The stamps are both from Gina K - different sets, but from the same card kit. The pumpkins were cut out with a coordinating die. I used watercolor paper for the pumpkins and colored them with Zig Clean Color markers. They are popped up with foam squares. The background is sponged with Gina K inks. The finished card measure 3.5 x 6.5. The card base is ivory. The stamping was all done with black ink and embossed with detail black embossing powder.

Perfect Pearls Silhouette Shimmer

Edited to add: Oh my goodness - I messed up! I had said that I used PearlEx, when I actually used Perfect Pearls! So sorry about that! Thanks, Darnell, for that comment! 

Jennifer McGuire has posted a few videos recently using Perfect Pearls powder. They have inspired me to dig out my powders. Hopefully I'll have time to make more using more techniques. 

For this card, I simply stamped on black with Versamark and brushed the Perfect Pearls pearl powder over the page. I matted with shimmery silver paper. The image is from Gina K and the sentiment is from Avery Elle.

Last (again!) Christmas Cards

Here, once again :) is my last Christmas card for this year. I made two of these. The ornament, hanger and bow are all die-cut. The ornament is three layers and the bow is two layers. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn and is embossed with gold powder. The ornament is layered on top of the white layer, and the hanger/string is die-cut into the white layer and backed with silver.

Gingerbread Christmas

I was glad I went through my list of people to send Christmas cards to very carefully, because I realized I needed three more! Oops. Here is one that I made this morning. I made two of the last one and will post them tomorrow or Friday.

The two patterned papers are from a Christmas matstack from Hobby Lobby. I matted the strip across the center. (Looking at the photo, that strip looks very crooked. I thought about fixing it and taking a new picture, but in real life it's actually perfectly straight! Goodness photos can be deceiving!) The gingerbread man was made with a die from Sizzix. I cut it once from brown and once from white. On the white one, I colored the eyes, nose, mouth and buttons. Then I put the little pieces into the brown piece and added it to the card.

Here is my last (probably) Christmas card for this year. I actually had a lot of fun making these last ones. If I get a chance, I might sit down and start on next year's cards. But for now, I'm done. 

I used my Letterpress for this one. I had used it a few times before and told myself "never again." But, here we go. It went pretty well this time, so I may give it another try soon. I used ink instead of paint, and maybe did things differently. I used Versamark for the sentiment and then gold embossing powder.

Christmas Cards

I needed just 13 more Christmas cards for this year, so I sat down and made them on Sunday and early Monday morning. I'll be sharing them over the next few days. They are all very simple, of course.

These ones I'm sharing today are simply embossed with embossing folders, stamped and matted. These are both Darice folders. The sentiment stamps are both from the same set from Recollections. I made three of each of these designs.
