SplitCoastStampers Challenges Card - Lots of Layers for a Boy

I started this card Thursday morning when Owen (my grandson) was napping, but he woke up when all I had done was stamp the robot and cut him out.  So, yesterday morning while he was napping, I finished the card.

When I started it, it was for Thursday's SplitCoastStampers Ways to Use it challenge - to make a card for a boy.  Friday's Free4All challenge was to use lots of layers.  So, I made a boy's card with lots of layers and got them both in:)  The robot is from a Recollections set. I stamped him on silver mirror paper twice and on white once. I cut the entire image out of the silver, the head out of silver, and his "control panel" out of white. I glued on the white piece and used foam squares to add the popped up head. I also added "googlie" eyes. The papers are from an old Sizzix pad. I embossed the black with a Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls folder and sanded it down. I cut the circles with Nestabilities. The circle layer is mounted on foam squares, also. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Birthday Basics set.

Stamped Floral - Part Two

The stamped floral part of this card was left over from the card on yesterday's blog post.

I cut the stamped flowers (done with Cameo Coral and Old Olive) and cut them in a square and matted with Old Olive cardstock.  I added Taylored Expressions Tiny Twinkles to the flower centers.  The bottom layer is Cameo Coral, which I stamped with another stamp from the same Fiskars set and embossed with my Swiss Dots folder.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Round and Round and is stamped with Old Olive.  The ribbon is Old Olive, also.  The flower square is mounted on foam squares for more dimension.

Floral Birthday Wishes

I had a little time yesterday to just make a card with no special "ingredients."  It felt good:)

I started with a new Fiskars stamp I bought at JoAnn's last week - with a 50% off coupon, of course!  I inked it up with Cameo Coral ink (from Stampin' Up!) and then used an Old Olive marker to color over the leaves and stems.  I stamped it several times to make my own patterned paper.  I matted with Old Olive cardstock.  I punched the little butterfly with a Martha Stewart punch out of Cameo Coral.  I colored the centers of the larger flowers with a Summer Sun marker, added Star Dust Stickles to the centers of the larger flowers, tiny brown pearls to the centers of the smaller flowers, and a tiny white pearl to the butterfly.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Round and Round set and is stamped in Old Olive ink.

I chose to use the Jester stamp, available on this page.  I stamped him three times in different orientations.  I colored him with Copic markers, using the closest colors I had to robin's egg blue and rust.  I hand-doodled a border around the image.  The corrugated strip across the middle was a piece of packing for a candle set I had - it worked well!  The sentiment can be found on the same page as the jester.

Birthday Greetings

I was making some new samples for the Creating Everlasting Memories eBay store last night, so I thought I'd share one of them with you.

The die I used is called "Sign."  I cut it out of both black and white cardstock and stamped flowers on the white oval.  The stamp is from a Fiskars set, and I colored it with markers before stamping.  I added tiny pearls to the flower centers.  The sentiment is from Impression Obsession.  I punched the bottom with an EK Success punch and added lines with my Scor-Pal.  If you are interested in the Lifestyle Craft dies (formerly Quicktuz) you can find a link to the CEM store in my blog header.  (A separate page of my blog.)

For my card, I stamped the watering can, masked it off and stamped the wheelbarrow, then stamped the grass.  I colored the items with markers and paper-pieced the "tub" part of the wheelbarrow with slightly patterned reddish paper.  I spritzed some water in two places on my Tim Holtz mat and added a drop of reinker to each spot - Soft Sky and Wild Wasabi.  I used a paint brush to dab the ink on to the sky and the grass.  The sentiment is from Repeat Impressions, also.  All three stamps can be found on this page.

Happy Easter!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy Easter.  I wish you all a good day, and safe travels if you are traveling.

This is the only Easter card I made this year. (I don't normally make them.)  I cut the letters with a Lifestyle Craft Dragonfly alphabet and added Star Dust Stickles to them.  The yellow section was embossed with a Quickutz Scallops embossing folder and I scored the lines with my Scor-Pal.  I matted with blue cardstock.  The patterned paper is from Sizzix.  I added pearls for a little "bling."    Again, Happy Easter to my Christian readers.

Teacher Thank You

I've been busy making cards with Lifestyles dies, and having so much fun!

This set combines three die sets.  You can find them all in the Creating Everlasting Memories eBay store, here.  I used DP0089 Apple, DD0088 Stacked Books, and DD0087 Gold Seal.  (And they are all on sale!)  The sentiment on the Gold Seal was printed on my computer and mounted on a foam square.  I cut the apple out of slightly patterned paper, and then used the same paper for the matting.  The black layer is shimmery and I used that same paper to mat the white layer.  The book and apple layer and mat are mounted on foam squares.  The background is embossed with a Cuttlebug Thank You folder.  I scored lines under that layer.  The sentiment is from Fiskars thank you set.  (The set came with hyphens between every "thank-you."  Not sure why!!  I cut them out of each stamp.)

Earth Day

I had this globe die from Lifestyle Crafts and was going to make a card with it.  I thought of Earth Day and checked it out.  Lo and behold - it's today!  So, I made this card yesterday.

The globe is die #DR0091.  I cut it from textured blue, patterned green and shimmery gold. I glued it to the same patterned green, from Sizzix, and matted with the textured blue.  I stamped the letters (intentionally not lined up!) from Image Tree.  Is anyone doing anything special to commemorate Earth Day?

Graduation

A simple graduation card for today.

I cut the graduation cap (from Lifestyle Crafts, formerly Quickutz) from black and white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment with a JustRite Stamper. I cut the plain white circle with a Nestability and the scalloped black circle with a Marvy punch. I mounted the hat and the black circle on foam squares. The background is embossed with a Cuttlebug Argyle embossing folder and is matted with black on a white card base.  EDITED TO ADD:  I replaced the picture with a new one after I added the diploma.  I had forgotten that I wanted it on there!  The diploma is also a Lifestyle die.

For my card, I used this week's Stamp of the Week, Child With Wagon (available through Sunday at 50% off.  See this post for details.)  I stamped the image with Memento black ink and colored with Copics.  I matted with a slightly textured blue cardstock.  My diamond shapes are the same blue.  I stamped the sentiment right on the twill.  (It's from Repeat Impressions, in case you hadn't guessed!)  My striped paper is from Die Cuts With a View.  I added stars to the twill and the diamond shapes.  We'd love to have you join us!!

A Shameless CASE! (Thanks, Georgia!)

I rarely copy/CASE someone else's work so completely, but I really liked the Easter card I got from my stamping friend, Georgia, so I made one like it!  Thanks so much, Georgia! (Georgia's card is on the left.)

I dug out some wedding stickers from Mary Englebreit and chose a heart-shaped one.  I cut a hole in the front of the card with a heart die from Lifestyle Crafts (formerly Quickutz.)  I also cut the same size heart in some shimmery silver paper and adhered it to the front of the card.  Then I took a slightly smaller piece of white cardstock and cut the scalloped heart in it and embossed it with a Cuttlebug Swirls folder.  I added the silver ribbon and glued it all together.  The card opens on the top.

Home Sweet Home

Just a quick post for today.  And a brief description for it.

I cut the frame with Lifestyle Crafts (formerly Quickutz) from slightly textured blue cardstock. I cut strips of black to put under the holes. I stamped the house with a Fiskars stamp onto blue and cut out. I stamped again on white, colored the roof, chimney, heart, door and windows and cut them out and glued them on the house. I nounted the house on foam squares and stuck to white textured cardstock. I matted with the same blue, embossed the swirl with a Cuttlebug border folder, scored lines with my Scor-Pal and stamped the sentiment - also from Fiskars.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

It's my dad's 86th birthday on Sunday, and this is the card I made for him.  He does really like "unique fold" cards.  This one isn't terribly special, but at least it's something a little different:)

This is an easel card.  I was in a hurry to get the card done, and I actually found the card base all done in one of my "card parts" boxes.  That sure helped!  And I have a new motto - if in doubt for a masculine card - brayer and silhouette stamp!  I brayered with five colors of Stampin' Up! inks.  The reeds (grass?) and dragonfly stamps are from Technique Tuesday.  The sentiment is from All Night Media.  I cut the letters with an alphabet set from Cuttlebug - Baby Face.  I sponged a little ink around the edge of the "Dad" panel.  The matting paper is Soft Suede from Stampin' Up!

An anniversary card for a friend of mine.  Hard to believe we've been friends for over 46 years! Happy Anniversary, Lucy and David.

I started with the pink piece.  It was already punched, cut, and scored.  (The border was punched with a Martha Stewart punch and the scoring was done with my Scor-Pal.)  I embossed the background with a Sizzix embossing folder.  The flowers were all stamped using a Technique Tuesday set with Stampin' Up! inks.  The butterflies were punched with a Martha Stewart punch.  I added tiny gems to each flower and pink pearls to the butterflies.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  I also sponged ink around the edges of the white panel.

For my card, I used the Repeat Impressions stamp 628-I, Toy Train.  You can find it on this page.  I stamped it with Memento black ink and colored it with Copic markers.  I just colored a line around the edge and matted it with red cardstock.  I cut the letters using a Lifestyle Crafts die called Dragonfly.  (It's available, among other places, here in the CEM store.) I glued the red and lighter blue letters on the navy background and then embossed with a Cuttlebug Herringbone folder.  The train panel is mounted on foam squares.

For my card, I stamped the image with Memento London Fog (gray) ink.  I colored him with Copic markers.  The mattings for both frames are cut with a Lifestyle Crafts die.  (You can find it here.)  The patterned paper is from Die Cuts with a View.  I punched holes in the sentiment and image to run my ribbon through.

More Daisies, White, and CAS!

I've had these three daisies mounted on the white strip matted with black for a couple weeks now, just waiting to be made into a card.  They were the last three flowers from a Martha Stewart package, and I really wanted to actually finish off a package of something!

I embossed the top and bottom of the card base with a Cuttlebug border folder, using my "no-lines" method.  (If you're interested, here is a post about it, with a link to a video tutorial I did.)  The sentiment is from Birthday Basics set from Papertrey Ink.  I matted with black, and glued it to the daisy strip.  The entire daisy panel, with sentiment, is mounted on foam squares.  That's it!

I didn't get any stamping time until late last night, so my card was done VERY quickly!  (I do like the way it turned out, though.  It was easy when I had a great card to go by!)  I cased this card of Harriet's.  I used daisies (from K & Company) where Harriet used butterflies.  The bottom was embossed with a Quickutz folder.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!'s Sincere Salutations set.  I also embossed a couple lines with my Scor-Pal at the top of the embossed section.

A birthday card for my friend, Georgia, whose birthday was yesterday.  I hope the card arrived!

I cut the Butterflies using a butterfly border die and Die Cuts With a View "sparkly" cardstock.  I brayered dark green ink on the Quickutz Leaves embossing folder, then embossed a lighter green cardstock with it.   I used my Scor-Pal to emboss lines on the card base.  I mounted the butterflies to the green strip with foam squares.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

One Layer Wednesday Challenge

 

I made this card for last week's One-Layer Wednesday challenge, which was a sketch. 

I masked off the center square with part of a post-it note, then used a Stampin' Up! wheel called Romance with Orchid Opulence ink to make the background. I drew a line around the edge of the mask. The flowers are from SU!'s Close as a Memory set and I inked the stamp with orchid and colored the stems and leaves with Old Olive. I added pearls for the flower centers. The sentiment is a miscellaneous one I had around and the butterfly is from Hampton Art.

For my card, I started with the 110-G, Toadstools, available on this page.  I stamped with Memento black ink and colored with Copic markers.  I punched one corner with a Fiskars corner punch and added a thin strip the textured brown that I matted with.  The bottom layer is a lighter textured brown paper.  The sentiment is a rub-on.  I like using rub-ons on textured paper rather than stamping, because it's more even.  I added a piece of brown satiny ribbon across the top, and brown pearls on the right side.  The card base is Kraft from Papertrey Ink.

I started with a piece of "faux marble" cardstock that had been made by someone else.  (I got it in a box of "hand-me-downs" from a co-worker of my son.  You can kind of see the different colors in the paper, along with the gold.)  I stamped the birdbath on it and cut it out.  I embossed with a Quickutz folder and cut a piece of cardstock to fit in the opening.  I brayered in the grass and the sky, then stamped the blades of grass with a Repeat Impressions stamp.  The butterflies were punched with a Martha Stewart punch out of more pre-marbled cardstock and then I added a pearl to each one.  I matted with black.

Happy Birthday, Joanne!

Yesterday was my friend, Joanne's, birthday.  This is the card I made for her.

I started with a piece of yellow cardstock from a Sizzix matstack.  I cut the flowers with a  Pop Up Flower die from Lifestyle Crafts. I put small pieces of foam squares under each petal to make sure they stayed popped up.  I glued it on to the textured brown cardstock and added buttons (from Papertrey Ink) to the centers of the flowers. I glued the panel to Kraft card base (also from PTI). The sentiment is from Impression Obsession and is stamped in brown ink.

April Calendar Page

Oh my gosh - how did April get here so quickly??  Looking outside, one would never believe it was April here in Minnesota!  Maybe some day soon.  We can only hope.  I think there is more snow in our forecast - and I'm not foolin'! LOL!

At any rate, here is my April calendar page with a brief description.  The tulip was done with a Dreamweavers stencil.  I embossed it (with my BIGkick - saves a lot of time when making 13 calendars) and stippled with Stampin' Up!'s Old Olive and Summer Sun inks before removing.  I matted with a shimmery yellow paper. The background is stamped with a stamp from SU!'s Doodle This with Old Olive.
