Dragonfly Birthday

A cheery little birthday card for today.

I used a Quickutz Dragonfly die to cut the dragonflies' wings out of three colors of vellum and the bodies out of black. I glued them to a strip of white cardstock. The matting is vellum, also, and is punched with a Martha Stewart edge punch. The sentiment is stamped in black using a Papertrey Ink stamp.

Here is the sketch for this time.  For my card, I used the same stamp as yesterday's card - Comfy Chair, available on this page.  I paper pieced it again, using four different patterns from a 7 Gypsies paper pad.  In fact, all the papers are from the same pad, except the black matting.  The sentiment is from Repeat Impressions, also.  The chair panel is mounted on Dimensionals.

Don't forget about the Designer's Choice challenge using watercoloring.  You can find the details on that challenge here.

Comfortable Birthday

I made this card for a friend. I paper-pieced the chair, which is from Repeat Impressions.  (You can find it here.)  I printed the sentiment on my computer using the same paper as the background.  I matted with Kraft and scored a couple lines with my Scor-Pal.  I'd have to say - it looks better in person!  I know it's simple, but I do really like it:)

Repeat Impressions Stamp of the Week - Lily of the Valley

Another Stamp of the Week from Repeat Impressions for you all!  This week's beautiful stamp, which is available at 50% off, is 4308-J Lily of the Valley.  You can find it on this page.  For all the details, please visit the Repeat Impressions blog, The House That Stamps Built.  You will also find the other creations from the Design Team.  Or, you can follow these links to their blogs:

Harriet ~ Karen ~ Maki ~ Miriam ~ Robin

For my card, I stamped the image on watercolor paper and used my Stampin' Up! inks (smooshed on a plastic sheet) and my Aqua Painter.  (I'm kind of liking watercoloring!)  I cut it with an Oval Nestability.  I used a marker to draw the dashed lines around the edge. The matting is one I did while in Des Moines at our Group Gathering.  Thanks, Andrea!  The background paper is from Die Cuts With a View.  I used the same watercolor paper for the bottom of the card.  The sentiment is from Repeat Impressions and I matted with black.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

Dimensional Daisies

Another quick post.

When we were in Des Moines for our Group Gathering, Harriet shared some items that she got at the Scrap Expo she went to in March.  Very cool!  She gave us some flowers to punch out and layer.  How easy! Each layer has a little bit less than the one below it and you layer them with Dimensionals.  They are foil so they shine, too.  Wish you could see it in real life - they are awesome.  Thanks, Harriet!  (I'll be sharing my other two at a later date.)  The sentiment is from Papertrey's Anniversary set.

SplitCoastStampers Clean and Simple Challenge

Monday's SplitCoastStampers Clean and Simple Challenge was to create a "long and thin" card.  This was my entry.

I cut the card base to fit into an envelope I had.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4 by 3 3/4 inches.  The flowers are from Martha Stewart.  I adhered them to white cardstock and matted with Rose Romance cardstock from Stampin' Up!  The sentiment is from SU!'s Sincere Salutation set and is stamped with Rose Romance ink.  That's it!  Another totally CAS card!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

Just a Note

A super simple card for today.  (Not too unusual for me.  LOL!)

When we were in Des Moines, Georgia wondered what to do with her Notes Cuttlebug folder.  I said, "Well, if you're a CAS (Clean and Simple) person like me, this is what I would do."  And I made this card with her folder and stamp.  The sentiment is from Papertrey's Anniversary set, is matted with black, and popped up on Dimensionals.

SplitCoastStampers Free4All Challenge

I made this card last week for the SplitCoastStampers Free4All Challenge.  The challenge was to CASE a stamping friend.

I chose to CASE Harriet's card for SCS Sketch Challenge #336.  Here is her card.  I used a Penny Black Sticker, cut it into two pieces, matted with True Thyme cardstock (from Stampin' Up!) and added the sentiment, which is from Studio G (the dollar bin at Michael's) and stamped with True Thyme ink.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

Repeat Impressions - Designers Choice Challenge: Watercolor

The Repeat Impressions Designer's Choice Challenge for this time is to watercolor an image on your card or project.  Not something I normally do, but I really did enjoy it!  We'd love to have you join in.  One lucky participant will win a full sheet of unmounted rubber!  Please visit the Repeat Impressions blog, The House That Stamps Built, for all the details and to see the other Rock Stars' creations.  Or follow these links to their blogs:

Darsie ~ Harriet ~Joy ~ Karen ~ Maki ~ Michele ~ Miriam ~ Robin

For my card, I started with the Bird and Blossoms stamp, found on this page.  I stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black ink on watercolor paper.  (The watercolor paper I used is some old stuff from when our kids were younger.  It says it's watercolor paper for kids, so I'm guessing it's not very good quality!)  I used Stampin' Up! inks - Rose Romance, Old Olive, Brocade Blue and More Mustard.  I "smooshed" them on to my Stamp-a-ma-jig plastic and used an Aqua Painter.  I even tried doing some shading! I matted with Kiwi Kiss cardstock from SU! and covered the card base with some patterned paper from Cafe Mediterranean from Die Cuts With a View.  I mounted the image panel on Dimensionals, too.  I added the pearls to the corners and the sentiment, which is also from Repeat Impressions.

We'd love to have you join us.  Just create your card or project, upload to your blog or an on-line gallery, and link it to the Repeat Impressions blog.

Simple Birthday

Here's another card I made with some of Harriet's stamps when she was here.

I believe all of the stamps are from Woodware.  I used a Fiskars corner rounder on the bottom corners and matted with black.  The flowers are embossed with a small Cuttlebug folder.  EDITED TO ADD: I wasn't correct about the stamps, but I was close! LOL!  The sentiment is from Woodware and the other stamps are from their partner, StampingScrapping.com.

Repeat Impressions Stamp of the Week - Mussel Shell

Wow - Monday already!  Time for a new Stamp of the Week from Repeat Impressions.  The stamp for this week is 4107-G Mussel Shell.  You can find it on this page.  For this week only, you can purchase this stamp at 50% off.  Check out the Repeat Impressions blog, The House That Stamps Built, for all the details and to see the creations by the other Rock Stars.  Or check out these links to their blogs.

Darsie ~ Dawn ~ Joy ~ Karen ~ Michele

For my stamp, I stamped the shells on Kraft cardstock with brown ink.  I cut them out and spritzed them with three colors of Glimmer Mist to give them color and sparkle.  (I wish you could SEE the sparkle!)  I mounted them on Dimensionals.  I used small ink pads and rubbed them directly on the Kraft cardstock to make the water and sandy shore.  The sentiment is from Repeat Impressions, of course:)  I matted with a brown cardstock and mounted the image panel on Dimensionals, also.

SplitCoastStampers Sketch Challenge

I made this card for the SplitCoastStampers Sketch Challenge #337.

For this card I used Harriet's Sweet 'N Sassy stamp set called Wildflowers.  I colored the stamp with markers and then spritzed with water before stamping. I added Flower Soft to the centers. The matting is Stampin' Up! Always Artichoke and the patterned paper is from My Minds Eye. The image panel is mounted on Dimensionals. The sentiment is from PTI and is stamped in Always Artichoke.

Another Flowery Thanks!

I have about two minutes to do this post - sorry!

The flowers and stems are from a set from Taylored Expressions that I borrowed from my friend, Harriet, while she was at my house.  I used Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive ink.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!  The matting is Rich Razzleberry.

Variations With a Tree

A very quick post for today.  Things are relatively back to "normal" after our Group Gathering in Des Moines.  We had a wonderful time and already have our rooms booked for next year!  More about that later - possibly even next week.  For today's post I have two cards made with the same stamp and same simple layout.  This first one is colored with Copic markers.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.  For both cards, the left side of the card is glued shut to the one-inch mark.
On this second card, I paper pieced the tree and the trunk and did a little bit of extra coloring on the leaves.  The sentiment is again from Papertrey.  The trim is done with a Martha Stewart punch.

Repeat Impressions WHAT IF? Wednesday Sketch

Today is another Repeat Impressions WHAT IF? Wednesday Sketch Challenge.  Wendy (the owner) gives the Rock Stars a sketch, and we come up with our designs.  Here is the sketch for the next two weeks.
We ask you to make a card using this sketch, upload to your blog or on-line gallery, and link it to the Repeat Impressions blog.  Please visit the blog, The House That Stamps Built, for all of the details and to see what the other designers have come up.  One lucky person will win a $25 gift certificate.  You can also find the other Rock Stars' blogs by following these links:

Darsie ~ Harriet ~Joy ~ Karen ~ Maki ~ Michele ~ Miriam ~ Robin

For my card, I used 1509-K, Wedding Bells Ribbon, found on this page.  I colored the image with Copic markers.  I cut it with a Coluzzle, making sure the ribbons were "outside the box."  I sponged some ink around the edges, rather than matting it, and mounted on Dimensionals.  I embossed a piece of white with a Sizzix folder for the top.  I think the bottom patterned paper is from Stampin' Up! but I'm not sure.  (I got it for some blog candy last summer.)  I added the roses, and the "leaves."  (The leaves are flowers from the wedding department at Michael's and are colored with a marker.)  I added the sheer dotted ribbon and the sentiment - also from Repeat Impressions.

We'd love to have you join us!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

Just a Plain "Colored-Image" Card

I got this stamped image a couple (a few??) years ago and I finally got around to using it!  I do have more, too.

I've wanted to try coloring a person with my Copic markers, so this is it.  And that's about the whole story of the card!  I matted with deep purple cardstock.  The sentiment is from  Papertrey Ink set and is matted with the same purple.

Group Challenge - Stickers or Rub-Ons

Our small Yahoo! group has several monthly challenges.  I don't usually participate.  (I have a hard enough time getting the other cards done each month that I have to do!)  But, one of the challenges this month was to use stickers or rub-ons.  I have a whole drawer full of them and I thought it would be a quick and easy card to make.  So, this was my card for the swap.  EDITED TO ADD:  Recollections is Micheal's "house" brand.

I started with the strip of white.  I added the sparkly rub-ons.  The bottom layer is textured green.  I punched the bottom edge with a Recollections punch.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.  That's it!

Speaking of our Yahoo! group.   This Sunday we'll be meeting in Des Moines, Iowa for our annual Group Gathering.  There will be nine of us this year - two from California, two from Omaha, me from Minnesota and four from Iowa.  We're so excited!  We look forward to this all year!  We'll spend all day Monday and half of Tuesday at the Archiver's in West Des Moines, if anyone wants to stop in and say hello:)  Then my friend Harriet will come back with me and spend a couple days before she heads back home to California.  (Two more of the group have blogs, too: Sheri and Vicki.)   I probably won't be posting anything more until after I get back, unless I sneak a little time to create something:)

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

SplitCoastStampers Color Challenge - a Smile

I made this card for SplitCoastStampers' Color Challenge #326 - Melon Mambo, Regal Rose and Pink Pirouette. I used Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouette cardstock, a Melon Mambo marker, and I substituted Rose Romance ink.

The background is stamped with a Tattered Angels stamp from Flowering Vine stamp set. The sentiment is a dollar stamp from Studio G that I picked up at Michael's on Tuesday - I loved it! The butterflies are done with a Martha Stewart punch. I used a Melon Mambo marker on the edges and I added gems for the dot on the "i" in smile and the butterfly bodies. Super simple, but it works:)
