Warm Wishes

I made two cards almost identical to this one (one had a different sentiment) and two cards just like the second one. The stencil and the stamps and dies are all from Gina K. I colored with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. The image and sentiment are popped up, of course. :-)

Elegant Birthday

Can you tell that I brought almost exclusively Gina K products with me on my retreat. :-) The elegant frame (die-cut from gold metallic cardstock), the flower and leaf (from the newest kit) and the sentiment are all Gina K. The sentiment is embossed in gold.

Deer Friend

Both of these cards were made with Gina K products - the stamps, dies and background stencils. The deer and the owl are popped up. The background frames are the last two that I have from AGES ago.

Sending Loving Wishes

Another card I made on my retreat. (They'll keep coming for a while!) The flower wreath stamp and sentiment were the free incentive set from Gina K. I bought the coordinating die set to bump my total up enough to receive it. Because this was done on my retreat and I hadn't brought any Copics, I colored it with Prismacolor pencils. For this card, though, I didn't use Gamsol - just colored darkly and filled in all the spots. Both the wreath and the sentiment are popped up.

Thinking of You

Another "demonstration" piece from my retreat. I showed how to use a die. I just cut it out of the black, then figured out how to use it. The sentiment is from Gina K.

Birdie Birthday

When I was at the retreat, I was asked about some of my tools. These two pieces were made for demonstration purposes, but of course I had to use them! The embossing folder is from Altenew. The sentiments are from Gina K. I embossed this first one in white.

I decided to post every other day, instead of every day (when I have cards to share.) It will spread them out longer, in case I don't have time to make more. :-)

Kids' Birthday

I made these cards for my friend, Cheryl, to donate to the thrift store she volunteers at - and makes tons of cards for! The stamps are from Penny Black and I used assorted patterned papers for them.

Sunny Days

I made this card on my retreat, but colored it after I came home so that I could use my Copic markers. The flip-flops and hat are mounted on foam squares. The stamps are all from one set from Gina K's newest kit. (The colors look much better together in person!)

Wax Paper Resist #1

A few weeks ago I tried a very old technique that Gina K recently did a video on. I ended up with eight panels. Here is the first card I'm sharing with one of those panels. For these cards, I used a background stencil from Gina K. I cut the oval out of the panel with a Nestabilities die. I used the negative space for this first card, and the oval for the second card. I added a matting piece on this first card. The flowers and leaves are from a set from the most recent Gina K kit. I used the stamps, stencils and dies from the kit. The sentiment is from Gina K, too. I think I'll add a little more color to the flowers - there isn't enough contrast between the light and dark areas. The flowers and sentiment are popped up on foam squares.

I used a scalloped Nestabilities die for the matting of the oval. I used a different Gina K set for the flower and sentiment on this card. I embossed the background with a woodgrain folder. I colored the flowers and leaves with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. I didn't bring any Copics with me on my retreat, so I used Prismacolor pencils for all of my coloring when I didn't have coordinating stencils.

Birthday Wishes in Blue

I received a card in this format from my friend, Vicki and I wanted to make one like it. This is what I came up with. The leaves and flowers and sentiment are all from Gina K.
I got back from my stamping/scrapbooking retreat on Thursday evening, but I just got the photos taken and edited yesterday. I made, I think, 33 cards. It was a great time!! I'll be sharing them here. I think there were ten that I have to add sentiments to. I just didn't bring enough stuff with me. :-)

Wax Paper Resist Card Fronts

Here are the card fronts that I made by using the wax paper method. It's a really old technique, but Gina K did a video of it very recently. You crinkle the wax paper, unwrap it and then put it between two pieces of cardstock and iron it with a hot iron. Then any ink you put on it will be resisted by the wax. One way she used hers was with stencils, and I really loved the result. Here are the pieces that I did, and I'm excited to make them into cards! I had never done a gray-scale card before (that I can remember!) and I love the way that turned out, too. (You might have to zoom in to see the patterns.)

I'm off to my retreat tomorrow morning. Hopefully I'll have things to share during my stay.

Bird Birthdays in Black and White

Well, here are the bird die-cuts and embossed vellum on colored cardstock that I was talking about the other day - made into cards. I think the dies are from Spellbinders. The sentiments on each card are from the new card kit from Gina K. I love them both! I added black nail heads to each bird. This bird is popped up on foam squares.

I used an ancient tool on this one. I'm guessing no one would spot it. I cut the small square of black cardstock and then I used a decorative scissors on it! This bird is attached directly to the black square and then I popped up the square.

Four Christmas Cards

I have several things going on in my stamping room. I was playing with crinkled and ironed wax paper. I also played with vellum over cardstock and then embossed. And I dug out some bird dies that I had. (Thanks, Leslie, for two of those!) I also got a new kit from Gina K and I really want to get started on using all the new stuff! Lucky for me I'm going away for a few days with a friend and her friends on a scrapbooking retreat. But, I will be making cards instead. Hopefully it will be very productive. I've also been messing around with rearranging my stamping room a bit. It's always something. :-)

Anyway, here are four cards I've made. I'm going to save my ironed, wrinkled wax paper for another time. I have eight card fronts that I've used that technique on, just waiting to be used.

This first card uses a Sizzix embossing folder. I used white mulberry paper over cardstock for the base for this embossed and die-cut bird, which I believe is from Spellbinders. The sentiment is from Impression Obsession.

This one also uses a Spellbinders die. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. The background is vellum over a mottled light green cardstock and then embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, I believe.

The dies for these ornaments are from Spellbinders. I used one to cut the bottom of the cardfront, too, so the bottom of the card that you see is actually on the inside.

The texture on this card is the wax paper that was left over from the pieces that I used as a resist on my as-yet-unused card panels.

Baby Cards

My friend, CHERYL, donates many cards that she makes to a thrift store that she volunteers at, where they sell very well. She mentioned a bit ago that baby cards really sell fast and she had to make more. So, I made these cards to give to her, along with several more cards that I have made. All of these cards except the last one are made with images from Gina K. They were stamped, colored (or paper-pieced), die-cut and popped up.

Sending a Whole Lot of Love

I saw a card with basically this layout on Liz's blog a little bit ago, and this is my version. (Hers was 5 x 7, I believe.) The butterfly stamp and the sentiment are from Gina K. I added a few rhinestones, also from Gina K.

Birthday Wishes

I came across a Gina K die recently that probably is a window with four panes. I cut it out of wood-grained patterned paper. I messed up the "good" piece, but saved the inner pieces. I arranged them on this card. I found the flowers and leaves (I THINK from Altenew) in my card parts and added them to the center. The flower is popped up. I matted with brown and stamped the sentiment - from Gina K.

Two More Paint Samples

The backgrounds for these images are paint samples - the last ones I'm going to use. I used the same Altenew image stamp as yesterday. I black heat embossed them and colored them with Copics. The sentiment for both is from Gina K - and cut with a Gina K die.

June Calendar Page

Not sure how it happened, but it's June already!! Here is my calendar page. The stamps are both from Repeat Impressions. I stamped, colored with Copic markers, and cut out the watermelon. I added the watermelon and sentiment to some gingham paper. Enjoy your summer!
