Christmas Folk Art Cards

I got this set from Altenew in January, and I finally used it. There is much more I could do with it, but for now, I'm kind of wondering why I got it! There is a 3D embossing folder, stamp set, stencils and dies. It was really discounted and I couldn't resist it. I'll revisit it at a later date, I'm sure. Because this set had never been used, I am adding it to Darnell's NBUS blog.

For this first card, I stamped with a dark gray ink, then used the stencils to do the coloring. That was a bit of a pain, because some of the stencils had to be cleaned and flipped over between colors. After coloring it, I used the die to cut the top edge and then used the embossing folder over the stamping. Unfortunately, you can hardly see the embossing. I added the sentiment, which was included in the set, and also some Star Dust Stickles in a few places.

A simpler version - just die-cutting the edge, embossing, and matting. Added the sentiment and a few nail-head stickers.

And the simplest of all - embossing a card front and adding it to the card base and then adding a foiled, die-cut sentiment from Gina K, popped up on foam squares.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!

Gosh, it's really pretty, Lynette! I would have gotten it, too, had I seen it. All cards are just lovely!

I really LOVE your first, colorful, card! It does sound like it took some time when the stencils had to be cleaned and flipped, but if you did, say, ten cards at a time, it probably wouldn't seem so tedious. You could use the same stencil on all ten before you had to flip it.

This looks like a fun set to play with. There's a lot you can do with it. Even the "Blackout" technique! You did a nice job so far. Have fun with it!

I know exactly what you mean, Lynette! I love the colors you used and I can see the embossing on my monitor. I have to say I really do love the simple embossed one and the one with that striking red outline! Thank you for inspiring everyone to use their NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
