Wedding Card in Black and White

A friend of ours recently got married and this is the card we sent them. My friend, Harriet, made a card very similar to it when she was here in June, and also suggested at the time that the sentiment die could easily be changed from "Mr & Mrs" to "Mr & Mr." Great suggestion, Harriet!

The lattice frame, leafy sprig and flowers were all cut with dies. I added a black oval under the lattice and black enamel dots to the flower centers. I mounted that panel on foam squares. I embossed the background with an old Cuttlebug folder and matted that with black. I die-cut the sentiment four times and layered them for dimension, and also added Wink of Stella for shimmer. The sentiment kind of disappeared on the black and white lattice, so I cut my own "shadow" to put under it. Congratulations, John and Brian!

Flower Stickers

Both of these cards use a piece of patterned paper from a Jenni Bowlin pack. I simply matted each with colored cardstock. Then I added these pretty, glittery, sticker flowers. The sentiments on each are from a Stampabilities set.

Layered-Dies Flowers

The flowers on this card were cut with dies. There are two layers per flower. The leaves were also cut from dies. I matted the panel with matching green cardstock. For the sentiment panel, I sponged off-white cardstock with green distress ink and spritzed it with a bit of water. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Smile

This piece of patterned paper was in a little pack of paper that I got from Vicki at our Group Gathering, by Jenni Bowlin. I matted with gray. I added a sentiment, mounted on foam squares, from Taylored Expressions.

Just For You

This stamp is an old, wood-mounted stamp. I colored it with Zig Clean Color markers, matted with orange and mounted on foam squares.

Best Wishes

Lots of white space:) The purple layer was done with a small embossing folder by Sizzix for Stampin' Up! I embossed it and then cut it down around the edge. I added a white rectangle stamped with a sentiment by Papertrey Ink. The flower is a glittery sticker and the leaf was layer-stamped with a set by Sunny Studio.

Today's Your Day

Another very simple card. I used Distress Ink cubes directly on the watercolor paper to make the stripes. Then sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Leafy Birthday

Another card using my leaf die. Again, I used the negative space for a stencil. This time I used embossing paste over the stencil. I added glitter to it. However, it didn't stick at all. I guess I needed to press it down or something. It's been a while since I've used embossing paste and glitter, I have forgotten! At any rate, I then sponged the green ink over the embossing paste image. I added the sentiment, from Papertrey Ink, and a thin strip of glitter Washi tape to the left edge of the panel. I mounted the image panel on foam squares.

Just Because

When we were in Des Moines last month (already over a month ago - seems like yesterday!), Georgia gave us some stickers - either flowers or butterflies. I chose the flowers. I have now used them up! You will be seeing three more cards I made with them in the next week or two. I added two of the flowers to this card. I drew the stems and leaves and grass by hand with a green gel pen. I think the sentiment is from Stampabilities.

Deco Foil Transfer Gel Sympathy

I tried something new to me for this card. I watched a Jennifer McGuire video on foil a few weeks ago and ordered some Deco Foil Transfer Gel. I used it on this one.

I cut the leaves with a die, then used the die-cut for a stencil, spreading the transfer gel on the card front. After it was dry, I ran it through my laminator with the copper foil. It adds a bit of dimension, but it's not nearly as smooth as just using the foil with laser-printed images. I do like it, though! I'm pretty sure the sentiment I used is from Stampabilities, but I'm not 100% sure.

Another Rose Anniversary

I just love these realistic-looking roses, stamped with layered stamps and die-cut with dies from Sunny Studio. I have several more of them stamped and ready to use. The leaves are stamped and cut with the same sets. The rose on the right is mounted on foam squares. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. I had used my Cameo Silhouette to cut out a heart for an earlier card. I used the negative part of the die cut as a stencil, and sponged ink onto the front panel for a background.

Deer Thanks

My brother and sister-in-law from Atlanta were here recently and I brought my sister-in-law down to my stamping room to show her some of my "toys." We had fun:) I helped her, but this is the card that she made. We cut the black cardstock with a die. I sponged the ink onto white cardstock for the background. The sentiment was stamped on black with Versamark, embossed with gold powder and popped up with foam squares. I wish she could have stuck around longer!

Let It Snow

My friend, Vicki, brought some 3-D embossing folders to our Group Gathering last month. I'm not sure if this one is 3D or not, but it's wonderful:) I made three embossings of it, and here are the cards that I finished with them. They are all very simple, because I didn't want to cover up the background! For this first one, I simply matted it with red.

For this second one, I added some Wink of Stella to the snowflakes and the sentiment.
And for this last one, I lightly sponged some light blue ink over the snowflakes. Three more Christmas cards done.

Celebrate Today

Well, this is the last card that I made while at our Group Gathering in Ankeny, Iowa. I'm quite sure the flower stamp is by Penny Black. I colored it with markers before stamping.

We had a great time this year. I still have many pieces to use on future cards!

Hello Shaker

I think I had only made one shaker card, ever. This one certainly seemed much easier! I came across some small tubes of items that work perfectly in shaker cards, so you may be seeing more of them. I've also been watching a lot of Jennifer McGuire videos as I've been walking on the treadmill lately and one of the videos was on shaker cards. The stamp I used for the background is an old Stampin' Up! stamp. I layered a die-cut for the sentiment. The circles were cut with a stitched circle die.

Rose Anniversary

I used a layering stamp set from Sunny Studio for the rose and the leaves on this card. I bought this set at Memory Bound in Ankeny and I also bought the coordinating die set, which I used to cut them out. I mounted the rose and leaves on a stitched circle die-cut that I cut from the card front. I mounted the circle on a fun foam circle. I embossed the background with a folder from Cuttlebug. The sentiment was left over from our make and take at Taylored Expressions. I added a few tiny pink gems.

Old World Map Birthday

I used an old, long-retired stamp to make this card. It's called "Old World Map" by Stampin' Up! I sponged four different colors over the image, which I had embossed with clear embossing powder and Versamark. I used a copic marker to draw the border around the edge. The sentiment was die-cut and layered.

Stenciled Christmas

Three more Christmas cards for today. I bought this snowflake stencil, by Echo Park, while I was at our Group Gathering. For this first card, I used soft silver ink. I matted with shimmery silver. I used the same shimmery silver paper for the sentiment and layered it with two layers of white cardstock for more dimension and strength.

I am entering these cards into the CAS Christmas Card challenge, which this month is to use snowflakes.
For this second card, I used a blue ink and matted with coordinating cardstock. I used gold foil to cut the sentiment, adding layers to it again.
I used a pink ink for this third card. I bought some cheap (Recollections) glitter paper at Michael's last week and the great thing about it is that I can use it for die cuts. I find that with the better quality glittery paper I can't use dies on it. I decided to also use the die to cut a hole in the card front and place the die-cut piece back into it. I placed a piece of green behind the die-cut opening.

Birthday Leaves

Every time I see these leaves, I think feathers. I just have to keep telling myself that they are actually leaves! :) I used ivory cardstock for this card. I used a die to cut the leaves. To back the leaves, I used a piece of used foil. The foil was used originally for another card, which I haven't finished yet. (I'm actually not sure if I will use it or not.) It was used to foil an embossed image, so there were fine lines gone from it. I thought by using it under the die-cut, you would see where the foil was missing and it looked like veins in the leaves. I'm sorry you can't see it better in the picture. The first picture looks like there is gold in the foil, but that is just a lighting issue.

Die-Cut Flowers

Just a simple card for today. I had these flowers left over from another card - that I just realized has not been finished yet! You'll see it eventually. At any rate, I colored the flowers and leaves with Copic markers. I used the "negative" of these pieces as a template to place the flowers. I used my Scor-Pal to add lines above and below the flowers. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Ornaments Border

Two more cards I made while at our Group Gathering. Told you I got a lot of cards made down there! LOL!

I used one of my new Gina K stamps, embossed in silver, for the sentiments. I die-cut the borders using a Memory Box die that I bought at the store's garage sale. I also used my Scor-Pal for more dimension and interest. So, I now have 41 Christmas cards made for this year.

Happy Birthday, Darnell!

This is the card that I sent to Darnell for her birthday. Little did I know that it met the requirements for the CAS Watercolour Challenge, which coincidently featured Darnell's birthday! I also forgot to take a picture of it, so Darnell wonderfully took pictures and sent them back to me:) So, thanks for the suggestion, Darnell, and here is my submission for the challenge.

As I said, i have watched several Jennifer McGuire videos lately while walking on the treadmill in the mornings. This is something I learned in one of them. I believe Jennifer called it an interlocking gate-fold card. The stamps I used are from Stampendous (flowers) and Papertrey Ink (sentiment.) I added some Wink of Stella to the flowers. I die-cut the frame and the image panel.

Happy Anniversary, Vicki and Gary!

My friend, Vicki, and her husband got married on the Fourth of July - a few years ago:) So, this year I decided to send them a patriotic anniversary. card. I cut the parts with my Cameo Silhouette. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. Happy Anniversary, Vicki!

I am entering this card into the Repeat Impressions challenge found on The House That Stamps Built blog. The challenge is to use red, white and blue.

Another "Fancy-Fold" Card

I made kits of this card to share in Ankeny, per a request I got from someone in the group. I have posted a card like this before, but thought I'd share this one, anyway. The folded pieces are one inch by two and a half inches. The corners are folded up at 45 degree angles and glued on to the card front. I scored some decorative lines with my Scor-Pal and added the sentiment, stamped in copper ink, which is from a Technique Tuesday set that I bought at the store's garage sale.

Sending Holiday Cheer

I made these cards while in Des Moines/Ankeny, also. I used a couple new-to-me sets by Papertrey Ink. One of the sets I used to stamp the corners and the other set was used to stamp the image/sentiment. I didn't have two sizes of ovals close enough to the same size, so I embossed the solid color pieces with a Darice embossing folder and added them at an angle. (I like a smaller matting border.) The sentiment panels are mounted on foam squares.

Amazingly, it's July already!! Here is my calendar page for the month. I used my Cameo Silhouette to cut out the pieces.

My calendar files are available for download from the link underneath my blog title. I'd love to hear from you if you use them, or if you have problems and would like a little more help.
