Fall Birthday

In my card parts were the water-colored leaves (Gina K), the crimped white strip, the orange strip and a circle die-cut from some gold glitter paper. I cut the circle in half to make it work better. The patterned paper is from an old Recollections stack. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Leaf Prints - Literally!

The next three days will have the last of the card parts that were in a plastic sleeve, waiting to be used. The rest of them are filed away. Yippee!

These three cards were made using real leaves - run through my BIGkick. Some are only the natural color, others have ink added. Since I did them last fall, I'm not positive which are which. The sentiment on this card and the second card is from Papertrey Ink. The background on all three is a die plate.

The sentiment on this one is from Avery Elle.

Have a Great Day!

This embossed and cut-out oval was in the card parts that I really wanted to get used up. I think (once again!) that all of my parts are either used or up filed neatly away in a binder. Yippee! I used a Nestability to cut the scalloped oval mat out of metallic purple cardstock. I stamped the sentiment on the oval. The flower is a really old shimmery, white flower from the wedding section of Michael's that I colored with a marker. I used a punch (EK Success) to cut the leafy sprigs. I also used a marker to color the butterfly stamped in the sentiment. I added a teeny, tiny button to the flower center. I used a die plate for the top of the panel and a Darice embossing folder for the bottom of the panel, and I added two scored lines between the top and bottom. Kind of retro!

I asked for Waffle Flower's rectangular layer dies for Christmas, and then I bought the in-between set after Christmas. I haven't used them a ton, but I do really love them and I hope I get in the habit of using them instead of my paper cutter.

Oops - Four More Christmas Cards - and Two "Bonus" Cards!

I really thought it would be awhile before I posted any more Christmas cards - but here I am, with four more. After my friend, Vicki, did this blog post, it just called to me - as did my Christmas papers. I die-cut the white circles with Penny Black dies (thanks, Darnell!) and the matting circles with Nestabilities. The sentiment panels are popped up on foam squares.

And here are the two "bonus" cards I promised you. I post nearly every card that I make, so I felt I should share these, also, even though they are nearly identical to yesterday's card and didn't deserve their own post. The main pieces were already done and I got them with the die from Darnell. I ink-blended color on a circle to place them on. I added the sentiment across the middle. I used a die plate to make the background.

Spring-y Thinking of You

This card is made up of card parts - the die-cut piece and the embossed background. The background was done with a Sizzix embossing folder. The die-cut (and colored) piece is thanks to Darnell. She so generously sent me a large box of supplies for our granddaughter about a year ago. Since Amelia doesn't have a die-cutting machine, I kept the dies here. There were a few sample pieces included and I decided to separate them and add them to my card parts. I layered the colored piece with a plain white piece and matted it with a spring green circle. I added the sentiment (from Scrapbook.com) and some sequins from Gina K. The circle piece is popped up on foam squares. Thanks, Darnell!

One More Die-Cut Flower

And here is the last flower I die-cut from my alcohol ink piece, again with Stickles added to the flower center. I drew the stem and leaves on the background, which is a tag that was also in my card parts. I added a slight bit of color to the edges of the tag with a blending brush. The patterned paper is some ancient paper from Sizzix, which I matted with black.

Embossed Birthday Background

Two more flowers cut from my alcohol ink piece, also with Stickles on the flower centers. The embossed image panel has been in my card parts for quite a while. I added a piece of patterned paper to the top of it.

Celebrate with Flowers

In my cards parts was a sheet of photo paper that I had added drops of alcohol inks to. I decided to cut some flowers out of it, and I'll be sharing three cards over the next few days using them. I added Stickles to the flower centers. I also die-cut some leafy sprigs and added them. The sentiment is from Maya Road. I added strips of striped paper to the edges and decorative thin strip stickers along the edge of the image panel. This card is a mini-slim line card. Well, a tad shorter than normal, since my striped paper was only six inches wide.

Hello Friend in Gray

Well, I went through several card parts that were not filed away, and made a few cards with them. I also put away the Christmas parts that I had and am hopefully done sharing Christmas cards with you for a while! All of my card parts are back to being organized in a book.

This stamped and embossed butterfly and the piece of vellum were in my pile. I'm pretty sure the butterfly is from Inkadinkado, but not positive. I added a tiny sentiment from Papertrey Ink. I embossed the vellum with an Impressabilities plate and added a piece of black behind it. The patterned paper background is from an old Recollections matstack. It does feel good to be making progress with my unused stamps and my card parts, and also more organizing of my tools and supplies.

Sixteen More Christmas Cards

Here are fifteen more Christmas cards for this year. I made one more, but it's identical to one of these. Others are very similar, but at least I think these are all different. The layout of them all is exactly the same - stamp the image, cut it out with a circle die, mat it with another die-cut circle piece, and pop it up on an embossed white background. The stamps are all (except the last card) from a set that I got from Gina K, but it has stamps from twelve different companies. The group is called The Stamping Village.

This last card does not use a stamp from The Stamping Village set. I stamped the snowflake in blue and added the sentiment in black.

More Snowflake Cover Plate Cards

I still had these two die-cut snowflake pieces on my table. I honestly can't remember if I used alcohol inks (I think that's the case) or dye inks. At any rate, I used photo paper for them and also a brayer. I backed both of these with white glitter cardstock - the first one with a border and the second one with no border. The sentiments are pre-printed strips from Gina K and I foiled them. The die is also from Gina K.

Christmas-y Trees

My friend, Vicki, made a card that I thought was very pretty, and I made these cards using her technique. You can find her card on her January 11 and 12 posts. I made the following card first and thought it looked plain - since I forgot to emboss it. But then, I kind of liked the plain one better! But, maybe I'll make another and only emboss the top part - that would look best, I think. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn.

Sparkly Warm Wishes

No big surprise - I have more Christmas cards to share over the next few days. You can not tell in the photo, but this is a VERY sparkly card. I used white glitter cardstock to emboss the image. I also used a brush to add ink very lightly over the embossing, but you really can't see that, either. Oh well. I matted with shimmery paper and stamped the sentiment in a matching color. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn.

"Retro" Birthday

I was doing a little bit of organizing of my "card parts" last week (imagine that - more organizing! It's almost as much fun as creating) and this flower got left out on my table. I do believe the dies are from My Favorite Things. For some reason, I decided to pull out my oldest items and use them to make this card. The stamps (the stem and the two words) are from the very first Papertrey Ink set called "Paper Tray." The pink embossed strip is done with my very first border embossing folder set, and the bottom portion of the main panel was embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder, which was one of my first, if not THE first of MANY folders that I purchased. The flower is mounted on foam squares.

We have an Alexa Show and it is connected to photos on our computer. Lately, she has been showing photos of really old cards that I have made, and I'm amazed at how much I really like most of them! Fun. I just may have to go back and remake some of them.

Three More Snowflake Cover Plate Cards

Here are three cards I made using the Gina K snowflake cover plate die as a stencil. Actually, the first and third cards are done through the "stencil" and the second card is the actual "stencil" that I used for the other two cards. I just glued it on to another piece of cardstock. For this first card, I used a Gina K sentiment and also a Gina K stamp for the snowman, which is colored with Copics and popped up on foam squares.
This one has a sentiment strip from Gina K.

This one was done on photo paper and matted with black.

Birthday with Scraps

I've been saving my thin strips of patterned paper and thought I would use a few of them. I stamped the sentiment, from Gina K, onto a strip of ivory cardstock and embossed a couple lines with my Scor-Buddy. I added the patterned paper strips, along with the solid green. The cardbase is ivory, also.

Simple Birthday

Wow - two non-Christmas cards in a row! This patterned strip came from a piece of 12 x 12 patterned paper. I started with an ivory cardbase. I embossed another piece of ivory cardstock with an Anna Griffen folder and added it to the bottom.  I added thin green strips on each side of the patterned paper and stamped the sentiment (from Gina K) above. Simple, but pretty, I think.

First Alcohol Ink Card

A few months ago, I bought myself some inexpensive alcohol inks from Amazon. Recently I got some posterboard from The Dollar Tree. I combined them for this card. I want to make some more backgrounds, but time just flies by way too fast. (I also got some acrylic paints for Christmas and I want to try them out on my gel plate.) I added thin black strips on each side of the panel. I stamped the sentiment and the flowers (both from Gina K) with Versamark and used black embossing powder on them.

Christmas Stripes

I used a die-cut ornament for this card. I colored the string with a silver metallic marker and used a piece of red velvet ribbon under the main part of the ornament. Then I popped up the ornament (but not the string) on foam squares. I used a Gina K stencil for the stripes on the background and stamped the sentiment directly on the card.

Upcycled Christmas

I received a post card-type card with a gift, and chose to upcycle it. Here is the result. I stamped the sentiment on a piece of white cardstock and matted it with silver. I also added a shimmery silver die-cut snowflake. Then I matted the entire panel with the same shimmery silver and added it to a card base. The sentiment stamp is from Gina K.

Christmas in Blue

Oh my gosh, I just can't stop making Christmas cards! I have several that are finished and ready to post, and many that have yet to be made - but I have the focal image ready for them.

The background for this card is from a matstack from Recollections. The sentiment, from Gina K, was stamped as a test for another card, and of course I couldn't let it go to waste. So, I matted it, popped it up on foam squares, and added some die-cut shimmery silver snowflakes. One more for this coming Christmas.

Stenciled Ornaments

Another stencil from my Christmas set. I used three colors of ink on this one. Then I simply matted it and added the die-cut sentiment. I'm pretty sure the die is from Taylored Expressions from when our stamping group visited there a few years ago. Seems like forever ago, but I think it was about two and a half years ago. The top layer of the sentiment is glitter cardstock.

Snowflake Die Cover Plate

I finally got a chance to try out my snowflake cover plate die from Gina K. It was part of my Christmas gifts. I simply cut it from white and matted it with purple. The sentiment was die-cut, also. I layered it, with the top layer being white glitter cardstock. It didn't show very well, though, so I colored the glittery cardstock with a black Sharpie marker. Better!

More Stencils

Another Christmas card done with stencils. (I got a set of 16 of them for Christmas.) I used one stencil for the trees and another for the sentiment. I splattered some silver paint over the panel, then matted it and added some thin silver sticker strips near the edges. I also used some stars that I had in my parts that were die-cut from silver metallic cardstock.
