SCS Sketch Challenge

I did this card for a sketch challenge (#234) on SplitCoastStampers.

(For simplicity and quickness, I am just going to copy my description from SCS.) The fairy stamp is from 2RedBananas - by Jami Bova and is called Flourish With Flowers. I stamped it with the Essential Glue Pad and used glitter. The green is not really as bright as it shows up as on the picture, but this was the best picture of the 'sparkle.' And purples are so hard to photograph, too. They really DO match! The sentiment is from Inkadinkado.

Our Group Gathering - June 7 - 9, 2009

I’m thinking I've promised a picture of the members of my Yahoo! group who met in Des Moines, Iowa a couple weeks ago, and I haven’t done that yet. So, here it is. Such a fun, talented, wonderful, caring group of ladies!!!

CAS Challenge - Paper Piecing

This card is for Clean and Simple Challenge #20 - Paper Piecing. I really like paper piecing and I wish I would remember to do it more often!

My image stamp is by Rubber Stampede. My piecing papers are from My Mind's Eye. I did the coloring with markers. I got the punched flowers from a friend and added brads for the centers. The slider is done with a Spellbinders die and the sentiment is from the Stampin' Up! set All Occasions. That's about it! (Clean and Simple cards shouldn't require a lot of explanation, right? :) ) Sorry about the shadows on the card - it's hard to find sunshine when one has so many trees!

Sixtieth Anniversary Card

The card I’m sharing with you today is the one I made for my mom and dad for their 60th Wedding Anniversary. (Congratulations to them!)

It is a full sheet folded in half, so it measure 8.5 inches by 5.5 inches. I started with my JustRite Stamper. I stamped the words, then stamped the "60." Then I added the heart, which is from a Paper Inspirations set and is stamped with a Versamagic pad and embossed with Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder. I mounted it on a circle cut from Papertrey Ink's Sweet Blush, then on a scalloped circle cut from vellum. And it’s popped up with Pop Dots. The left panel is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder called D’vine Swirls. I brayered the folder with Versamark before embossing, then used Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder on it, too. It is also mounted on Sweet Blush, as is the bottom layer. The butterflies are punched from vellum with a Martha Stewart punch and are also popped up on Pop Dot pieces. I scored lines on both sides of the ribbon, which is from Papertrey Ink. I added pearls of different sizes to the butterflies, the lower-right corner and also on the sentiment circle. I had put asterisks on the sides of the sentiment, but I covered them with pearls to match the others.

SCS - Limited Supplies Challenge

This card is for SplitCoastStampers Limited Supplies Challenge #224 - to use blues, greens and grays, and piercing, brads and ribbons.

The main image is by Penny Black and is colored with watercolor pencils and an aqua pen. I added Stickles for the flower centers. I used a Nestability to cut and emboss it, and left it in place to color around the outside, leaving a frame. I matted it with Going Gray. The background is Night of Navy. I added ribbon, scored on both sides of it, and pierced around the top half of the card. The sentiment is embossed with white and the stamp is by Inkadinkado.

SCS Sketch Challenge

Whew! After working on the house (which is not done yet!), going out of town a couple times, having company and then more company, and the Anniversary Open House – I’m ready for a little “normalcy!” It was all FUN, but it’s always nice to be back to normal, too. I’m almost there.

The card I’m sharing today was done for the SplitCoastStampers Sketch Challenge #232 (from the week before last.) The main stamp is from Gina K’s “Flowers for Daisy” by Asela Hopkins. I stamped it on shimmery white with Versafine Onyx Black, embossed with clear embossing powder, and colored with Stampin’ Up! markers. The white strip across the middle is cut and embossed with a Piercerability (by Spellbinders.) The stamp and the Piercerability are both courtesy of Harriet. ( I can’t believe it was only a week and a half ago that you were here!) The card base was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder.

Three Cards - One Main Image

Tomorrow is my Mom and Dad’s 60th Anniversary Open House and our daughter, son-in-law and grandson will be flying in tonight. So, I don’t think I’ll be posting for a while. I will share three cards today, each using the same main image.

The branch image is from 2RedBanana’s set “Wrapped in His Love” – the same as my card from a couple days ago. Since I had it out and inked up, I wanted to use it a few times. I won’t go into detail – please email me if you have questions. (LJNeus@hotmail.com)

Today’s card is for a Sketch Challenge from the 2RedBananas blog. You can find it here. I think it’s a really great sketch – you should give it a try! The prize is awesome, too. The patterned papers on my card are both from Die Cuts With a View “Fun in the Sun” Summer Matstack. The green is from a scrap pack and the ivory is a shimmery paper. The sentiment is from a set by Scrappy Cat called “Birthday Wishes.” The flowers are by Kaiser and the button is from Papertrey Ink. I stamped the sentiment with Versamagic Aloe Vera ink and embossed with Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder.

SCS CAS Color Challenge

This card is for Clean and Simple challenge #18 - to use pinks/corals, kraft and one other color.

I used Papertrey Ink kraft, and Stampin’ Up!’s Cameo Coral and Old Olive. The flower and leaves are embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder and cut out. I used Crystal Stickles on the flower center and mounted the completed flower on Pop Dots. The white is embossed with Swiss Dots and mounted on Cameo Coral. The sentiment is from Critter Party by Penny Black and is stamped with Old Olive. So many times I experiment with putting images at an angle, and I usually end up just putting them straight. This time I actually did it! :) (Thanks for the encouragement, Harriet!)

SCS Clean and Simple Sketch Challenge

Today’s card is another SplitCoastStampers challenge card – this time for this week’s Clean and Simple challenge. You can find the challenge here. It’s a sketch challenge based on this card by Natasha Trupp.

The stamps I used for the card are from 2RedBananas. They were a gift! from Jeanette when we were down in Des Moines. So awesome!!! Thanks again, Jeanette! They are from a set called “Wrapped in His Love.” Here is a link to the 2RedBananas store. I used Stampin’ Up! markers (Close to Cocoa and Old Olive) to color the stamp and then colored the flowers directly on the paper with Cameo Coral. The image panel is mounted on Papertrey Ink’s Berry Sorbet cardstock. The butterfly is punched with a Martha Stewart punch and has a couple pearls for its body. The card base is 4.75 inches square.

Flowers for Daisy Card

Well, it’s about time I did a post here again. Seems like forever ago! I had such a wonderful time with my Yahoo! group in Des Moines. We spent a day and a half at the Archiver’s there – they even closed off the work rooms for a “Special Event” and that Special Event was US! And Harriet was here for another two and a half days and we did a lot of stamping. I got to use some of her things – very cool. But, it had to end and Harriet flew home Friday morning. We left town again Saturday morning and came back today. So, I’m finally catching up on blog-reading and posting. Whew!

My card for today’s uses some Gina K stamps by Asela Hopkins – a set called “Flowers for Daisy.” I stamped the main image on white shimmery paper and again on patterned blue. I cut the cloth out of the blue and glued it to the main panel. I colored the image with Stampin’ Up! markers and mounted it on yellow. The yellow strip across the middle is done with a Piercerability die from Spellbinders. I colored the daisies on it with a white gel pen and a yellow marker. The sentiment is also from the same set.

SCS Color Challenge - White!

This card is for SplitCoastStampers' Color Challenge #222 - White! Added challenge - one layer.

I stamped the flower with Versamagic inks in Spring Pansy, Aloe Vera, Perfect Plumeria and Spanish Olive, and embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I masked off the top, bottom and left side and sponged with Soft Sky, fading out towards the right. The sympathy sentiment is stamped with Soft Sky, also. I added a pearl to the flower center. It needed more, so I used my Scor-Pal to score lines around the sponging on the left side - full pressure on the left side and then with lessening pressure toward the right side to coordinate with the fading-out sponging.

I’m back from my stamping outing and had a super wonderful time! I will share more about that later – I still have company.

"A is for Animals"

This card is for an alphabet swap I’m in. We’ve been through the alphabet once, and are now back on A. My card is “A is for Animals.”

The critters are all from the Stampin’ Up! set called Forest Friends. I stamped the owl in Close to Cocoa, the deer in Creamy Caramel and the bunny in Mellow Moss. (I know, funny color for a rabbit, but I had other plans which didn’t work out!) I matted each of them with the coordinating color cardstock. All images and mats were cut using Nestabilities. The sentiment is from a set by The Paper Company, and is stamped in Creamy Caramel. The dots on the top and bottom are embossed with a Cuttlebug border folder, and the lines were scored with my trusty Scor-Pal. I added a strip of vellum over the center, and then a couple pearls.

Sea Shells Birthday

This card is for my brother. Probably not really a “guy” card, with the glitter. But I don’t have a lot of options – most of my stamps are flowers!

I taped a brass stencil to some textured ivory cardstock, then stippled the shells with Stampin’ Up! inks in Sahara Sand, Creamy Caramel and Really Rust. Then I used embossing paste over them and sprinkled them with Art Institute Ultrafine Crystal glitter. I mounted it on Creamy Caramel and added some “faux brads” to the corners. The sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!’s Sincere Salutations stamped in Creamy Caramel, and I added a couple scored lines, done with my Scor-Pal.

A couple personal things – Sunday is my one-year blog anniversary. My how time flies!! Thanks to ALL of you for continuing to visit. I really appreciate it!

And Sunday my friend, Harriet (hskelly on SCS – new celebrity as a member of the Clean and Simple Challenge team!!!) flies in from California and we head down to Des Moines to meet up with other members of our Yahoo! group for our third annual “Group Gathering.” We are all sooooooo excited for this! We look forward to it all year! We’ll spend all day Monday and half of Tuesday at the Archiver’s in Des Moines (stop in and visit if you’re in the area) and then Harriet will stay at my house until Friday morning. I still need to get ready!

Fairy Best Wishes

I’ve been making cards all morning – I have four done. Two are graduation cards which are very similar to ones I’ve already posted. One is for an Alphabet Swap and I’ll post it Monday after it has been received. The one I will share today is made with a new stamp that I WON from 2RedBananas!! Thanks so much, Jeanette! Briefly, here are the items I used for the card. The image is stamped with Versafine Onyx Black. I colored it with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. I added LOTS of glitz with a glitter pen (not sure that’s what it’s called, but that’s what I’ll call it! :) ) I used FlowerSoft for her bouquet. I sponged the edges with Orchid Opulence ink by Stampin’ Up! and matted it. I used a Cuttlebug border embossing folder on white strips for behind the image and for the sentiment panel and also sponged those edges. I used the glitter pen on them, too. The background paper is by Die Cuts With a View Pocket Full O’ Posies matstack, and I added a sheer purple ribbon with white dots. (I guess this qualifies for this week’s challenge!) I wish I could show you the sparkle, but at least you can get a little idea of it by the small picture.

Christmas??? Now???

Christmas cards are NOT what I should be making right now! This one just "happened." :) I got a new little Stampin' Up! set last week, and this is one of the images.

The set is called A Flower For All Seasons. I stamped it on Very Vanilla with Versafine Onyx Black ink, and colored it with Stampin' Up! markers. I mounted it on Riding Hood Red and green. I embossed the card front with a square Nestability. I added one yellow seed bead to the center of each flower, and outlined the petals with a Sakura glitter pen. The sentiment is by Rubber Stampede.

June Calendar Page

Hey, I remembered to do my calendar page on the first - how about that!

The stamps are all from a My Favorite Things set called "Hit the Beach." I used a scalloped Long Rectangle Nestability to cut out the image and colored it with Stampin' Up! markers. Looks like I rubbed the edge in a green ink pad, too. It's mounted on paper from Die Cuts With a View - Summer matstack. That's it! (As I'm looking at it now, I see I could have spent a little more time on the coloring! I guess I was getting tired of making calendar pages when I did this one. :) And, not like it makes much difference really, but I believe the blue was colored with my one Copic marker.)

SCS Featured Stamper Challenge - Anniversary

Today’s card is a SplitCoastStampers’ challenge to “case” the Featured Stamper. Today’s Featured Stamper is Roxie Glaza. You can find the details of the challenge here. Roxie's card that I cased is this one.

The daisies at the top are stamped with a set by Stampin’ Up! called Simply Said. The white daisies are punched with a Marvy Uchida punch. The embossed trios of dots are a Sizzix embossing folder. The row of daisies at the bottom are a Cuttlebug border embossing folder. The border at the very bottom is done with a Martha Stewart border punch. The lines are embossed with my Scor-Pal. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink’s set called Mixed Messages. The daisy centers are pearls colored with an SU! Yoyo Yellow marker. The sentiment and mat are cut with Oval Nestabilities and mounted on Pop Dots. I THINK that’s all the details!

More Flowers - Birthday

I got up really early this morning, so I had time to make a card. It’s another one for 2RedBananas challenge – to use flowers. Not too much of a challenge for me! And it’s another post done while I’m walking on the treadmill. I know – I SHOULD be walking outside on these wonderful days, but then I can’t do computer!! LOL!

I stamped my image on white with Versafine Onyx Black. The stamp is from Door County Rubber Stamps and Scrapbooking. I colored her with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol, and cut and embossed her with an Oval Nestability. I matted her on a scalloped Oval Nestability, also in white. The background paper is from Die Cuts With a View Citrus matstack. I added a sheer white ribbon. The sentiment is stamped with Versafine, also, and is from Stampin’ Up!’s Sincere Salutations. (Love that set!) AND I added something new to me – Flowersoft. I got mine at A Bit of This N That. I ordered it on Friday night and had it on Tuesday – after a Monday holiday!!

Wishing You ... a Happy Birthday

I got a new stamp from the dollar section at Michael’s on Monday, and I tried it out almost as soon as I got home. Last night I made it into a card.

I colored it with Stampin’ Up! markers in Mauve Mist, So Saffron and Mellow Moss. I cut it out and embossed it with a Long Rectangle Nestability. I matted it with Mauve Mist and black. The background is Mellow Moss, embossed with a Sizzix folder. I used my Scor-Pal for the lines, and stamped with Versafine Onyx Black using a stamp from Papertrey Ink's “Wishing You ...” set. I added some ribbon and mounted the image panel on Pop Dots.

SCS Double Challenge Card

Here is a card I made yesterday. It’s for the Clean and Simple challenge on SplitCoastStampers (to re-make one of your cards) and also for the Color Challenge – Bashful Blue, So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie. Here is a link to the card I re-made.

I don't have Bashful Blue, so I used Bliss Blue. I stamped the image with Versafine Vintage Sepia and embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I colored it with Stampin’ Up! markers – Bliss Blue, So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie. I once again scored around the image, but left off the background scoring and additional layers. The sentiment was also stamped with Vintage Sepia and embossed. I left off the ribbon and the tag.

Sorry so short – I’m on the treadmill right now! Then I have go grab a quick breakfast (and a shower!) and head to the airport to pick up our son and daughter-in-law. I already put the second coat of paint in the bathroom. I think the toilet will go in today – yippee! And the vanity and sink? Hopefully.

A Papertrey Ink Anniversary

Finally, another card! I miss stamping!

Just a simple anniversary card for today. I got some new stamps from Papertrey Ink and even got a chance to use them. The stamps are from the set called “Wishing You …” It features tulips and sentiments. I stamped them with Papertrey ink, too. The tulip and sentiment are Berry Sorbet and the stem and leaves are New Leaf. The image is mounted on Berry Sorbet cardstock and then on Pop Dots. I don’t have any New Leaf paper, but I had a very small piece of some green that matched exactly. I have no idea where it came from, but I wish I had more! I used a Cuttlebug border folder to emboss the dots and my Scor-Pal to emboss the lines. The ribbon is also Berry Sorbet from Papertrey.

I did get some work done, in place of stamping. I got the floor prepared (scrubbed and painted) and then put down the floor tiles in our downstairs bathroom and furnace room. That was finished on Sunday. Then yesterday we enjoyed the weather with a nice long bike ride. We also decided on a paint color and I will get that today and hopefully it will be painted today or tomorrow. Yippee - little by little! Oh, and I also got the 60th Anniversary invitations finished and they went out in Saturday's mail.

Sage and Dark Purple - A Color Challenge

I took the time to make a card this morning. It’s for a color challenge in my Yahoo! group – to use sage green and dark purple – and for the 2 Red Bananas challenge for this week which is a sketch and you can find it here.

I cut an oval out with a Nestability, then used the outer part of it and sponged the inside of it with Stampin’ Up!’s Sage Shadow on a textured ivory paper. I stamped the flowers with Vintage Violet and added a pearl. The stamp is from Rubbernecker – the Jeanne Streiff collection. I matted this on Vintage Violet cardstock. The strip behind the image is Sage Shadow embossed with a Cuttlebug Texture folder. The sentiment is by Inkadinkado and is stamped with Vintage Violet.

60th Wedding Anniversary Invitation

A quick post for today. Here is the finished invitation to my parents’ 60th Wedding Anniversary Open House. So far, it’s the ONLY one finished! I have, however, got all the printing done and all the pieces cut. The most time consuming part will be stamping the swirls because I have to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig and make sure to flip it around each time. Oh well. I only have to make 32 – not so bad.

I guess there is really not too much to say about it. I scanned the pictures and printed them and mounted them on Stampin’ Up!’s Ruby Red cardstock. The words are also printed from the computer. The swirls are from a Heidi Grace/Fiskars set and are stamped in Ruby Red. The corners are cut and embossed with a Fiskars punch. On the actual invitation, it has my parents’ names, the location (with the address) and then the names of us kids – LOL!!!

CAS Challenge #15 - Black, White and Bold!

The swirly stamp and the flower are from Inkadinkado. The sentiment is from PSX. The sentiment is matted and mounted on Pop Dots. The butterflies are punched with a Martha Stewart punch, embossed with a Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder, embellished with pearls, and mounted on a tiny strip of Pop Dots.

Two Simple Cards

Thanks for all of your wonderful comments – I had so many smiles reading them!

I made a couple really quick, simple cards last night so I thought I would upload them. The first one is an image stamped on Papertrey Kraft cardstock and colored with Prismacolor pencils. The stamp is by Stampin’ Up! from the set “Little Hellos” and I stamped it with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink. I mounted it on Pop Dots. The sentiment is from the same set.
The second one uses a sticker I got from a friend in a “Card Parts” swap a couple years ago. It’s maybe not meant to be for a baby, but it just said “baby” to me! The rectangle around it is embossed with a Nestability, and the sentiment is also from “Little Hellos” and is stamped with Stampin’ Up!’s Positively Pink. (I wish I knew why most of the time you can click the picture to view it larger, but sometimes you can't! The sticker says "Precious" on the top, that's why I thought it was great for a baby. Sorry you can't view it larger.)

I made a mock-up of the anniversary invitation on Friday night. It’s not going to be all that special, just functional! I’ll post it when I decide for sure. My husband went fishing with a friend on Friday and will be back today. Normally, that means that I almost don’t leave my stamping area! This time, however, I actually got some things done – mostly on the computer, but also in the bathroom that we are COMPLETELY redoing. I think the walls are all ready to paint now – yippee!! I also did some reading – the fourth book in the Twilight series. Anyone else read them? Today I have to clean the house because some friends are coming over to watch the Season Finale of Survivor. We have been watching the finale with them almost since the beginning – I think since perhaps the second season. We really look forward to it!

A Change in My Blogging "Habits!"

No card for today. Just a note to my friends and loyal readers.

I love making cards and sharing them on my blog. And I love getting visitors every day. I’m constantly checking out where you are all coming from. It truly amazes me how many of you faithfully visit me every day. (I don’t know who you are – don’t worry! - although I'd love to! I only know where you are visiting me from, and then only if you actually view my website!) I can not believe I am approaching 30,000 blog “hits” and also coming up on a year of blogging already. Seems not that long ago that I said, “What the heck!” and My Stamping Addiction started.

When I started, my intention was not to blog every day. Then I got caught up in it, thinking that if I didn’t blog every day, some of you would quit checking me out, and I have uploaded something every day for over FOUR MONTHS! I am NOT writing to say that I’m not going to be blogging any more, just to say that I’m going back to blogging when I have a card to post, and not doing cards just for the sake of blogging. I hope that makes sense!

We are working on our house – re-doing some things – and I need to spend more time on that and yard work. (YUCK!) My parents are celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary in June, and I have invitations and preparations for that to do. My dad is still dealing with cancer and has decisions to make and that has meant several trips to go to doctors visits with him. Lots of things going on! Plus, my Yahoo! group’s “Group Gathering” is coming up in just over THREE WEEKS! and I need to prepare for that somewhat, too!

So, anyway, that being said – I know it’s going to be very hard for me to stay away from my stamping room and I’m sure I’ll still be posting quite frequently. I hope you will continue to check on me – all nearly 100 of you that are subscribers and followers!!

CAS Challenge - A Sketch

I made this card last week for Clean and Simple Challenge #13, but I guess I didn’t post it here. So, I’ll share it today! You can find the challenge here – it’s a sketch.

Dragonfly Thinking of You

I just wanted to let a friend know that I was thinking about her and she loves dragonflies, so here is Terri’s card.

The “Friends” panel is from Die Cuts With a View. I lightly sponged it with Real Red and mounted it on shimmery silver paper. The Thinking of You is from a Stampin’ Up! set called All Year Cheer I. I stamped it with Versamark and embossed it with Detail Silver embossing powder. The dragonflies are punched out of some cardstock by Crayola. It’s VERY reflective and reflects in different colors. Sorry I can’t describe it better! They are mounted on Pop Dots.

Glittery Thank You

Today's card is for two challenges - Clean and Simple Challenge #14 - using the 'Rock and Roll' technique (you can find the challenge and a link to the technique here) and also for the 2RedBananas challenge - to use glitter. (You can find that challenge here.)

Both stamps I used today are by Inkadinkado. I first inked them up with Summer Sun, then 'rolled' the edges in Tangerine Tango ink by Stampin' Up! They are mounted on Tangerine Tango cardstock. The bottom layer is from Die Cuts With a View Citrus matstack. I used a glue pen to draw over the stamping, then sprinkled with Barbara Trombley's Art Institute ultrafine glitter. The butterflies were 'scraps' on my table from the card I made yesterday using a Tonic punch. I wish the glitter showed up better, instead of just looking like sugar on the card! It's a little hard to tell in the picture what the card really looks like.

Fall-to Layout - Celebrate

Today’s card was made using Natasha Trupp's Fall-To Layout #41. Her blog is called Clean & Simple Stamping.

I punched the butterflies with a Tonic punch using Stampin’ Up!’s Tangerine Tango cardstock, then cut them out with a Circle Nestability. I mounted them on white, and then on Stampin’ Up! Pacific Point. The ribbon is from Michael's and the sentiment is from JoAnn's - from The Paper Company.

Black and White - Embossing Paste Thank You

I found myself without a card to post this morning, so darn – I had to make one. What a way to spend part of Mother’s Day morning! :) It did have to be a quick card, though, so here it is.

I used an Anna Griffin brass stencil for the main image, which was done with Glossy White Dreamweavers Embossing Paste. I mounted it on white. The dotted paper is by Die Cuts With a View. I used a Dreamweavers stencil for the Thank You, directly on the DCWV – again with the embossing paste. That is ALL there is to it!

Coral Anniversary

An anniversary card for our niece and her husband. I don’t THINK she’ll see it before she gets it, but if you do, Sue – sorry!

The background was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder called Textile. I lightly sponged it with Cameo Coral ink and mounted it on Papertrey Ink’s Berry Sorbet cardstock. The edges of the card were also sponged with Cameo Coral. The sentiment is a stamp by Stampendous, and it is cut and embossed with a Petite Oval Nestability, as is its scalloped mat. The ribbon (which you can barely see) is from Papertrey, also. The butterflies were punched with a Martha Stewart punch (I am so glad I got that punch!) and embossed with a Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. The sentiment and the butterflies are mounted on Pop Dots, and I added pearls to the butterfly bodies.

Triple Challenge Card

This card is for three challenges - Ways to Use It Challenge #217 - to use Kraft, Sketch Challenge #227, and the 2RedBananas challenge - to do a monochromatic card.

The main image is from Paper Inspirations and I stamped with Stampin’ Up!’s Sahara Sand on a textured paper with a pre-distressed edge. The 'thanks so much' is from Pocket Silhouettes by Stampin’ Up! I used a Cuttlebug border folder for the horizontal layer and I scored it with my Scor-Pal, also. The punched border is done with a Martha Stewart border punch. The 'thanks so much' and its scalloped mat were cut with Petite Oval Nestabilities. The main image panel and the thanks are mounted on Pop Dots.

A Fun Saturday!

A simple card that reminds me of a fun Saturday! I made it a while ago, but hadn’t put it on my blog, so here it is.

The main embossed panel is done with a Cuttlebug border folder. I embossed it on Stampin’ Up!’s Riding Hood Red and added scored lines above and below it with my trusty Scor-Pal. I also added scored lines directly on the card front, which is Stamper’s Select by Papertrey Ink. The sentiment is by Inkadinkado and is stamped with Riding Hood Red ink. That’s it!

I had received an email in February asking if I did workshops – a mother-in-law/daughter-in-law pair would like to attend. How cool is that! I said no, but they’d be welcome to come and stamp with me some time, if they’d like. So, finally a couple weeks ago we were able to get it scheduled. It was so much fun! We just went from one thing to another and another, and really had no time to stamp. But this was the one card that was “cased” that day. So, Sandee and Wendy, this post is for you!

Tri-Shutter Card

Today’s card was one I made last week for my good friend, Harriet. She is having hip replacement surgery today. Best of luck to you, Harriet!!! It’s called a Tri-Shutter card (not sure why!) and I found the directions and pictures on this Craftiblog entry by Bonnie. I have included several views.

The base of the card is an olive cardstock. The decorative paper is from Stampin’ Up! The stamp on the front is by Hero Arts and the Thinking of You stamp is from Stampin’ Up!’s All Year Cheer. The flowers are Primas and the center is a brad. The butterflies are punched with a Martha Stewart punch and trimmed with pearls. The flowers on the back are punched, also, and have pearl centers.

Graduation Card #2

This is sort of a continuation of yesterday’s post, with my second graduation card.

This card is for my niece who is graduating from college. I’m really proud of her! Her college colors are red, black and white. I embossed the bottom of the card with a Cuttlebug Congratulations folder. The top was embossed with a Sizzix triple dot folder. I used my Scor-Pal to add two lines between the embossing, mounted it on red and then onto the card base. I again used my JustRite stamper for the sentiment. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink on a semi-glossy cardstock. The graduation cap is by Hero Arts and is also stamped with Versafine. I embossed them with clear embossing powder. I used a Coluzzle to cut the white circle so that I was able to have the tassel sticking out. The black scalloped circle was cut with a Marvy punch.

Graduation Card #1

I had two graduations to make cards for this year – a light year :). Normally I would probably post them both on the same day, but since I’m a little short of cards to post, I will spread them out over two days!

This first one is for the son of a good friend, who is graduating from high school. As you can probably guess, his school colors are black and yellow. I used the Cuttlebug Congratulations embossing folder on yellow cardstock. I sponged black lightly pretty much over the whole thing to highlight the embossing. The sentiment was stamped with a JustRite Stamper with Versafine Onyx Black ink on white and sponged with yellow around the edge. The white and the black circles were punched with Marvy punches, and the yellow was cut with a Nestability. It is mounted on Pop Dots. The yellow is matted with black and mounted on a white card base.

Another Butterfly Birthday

I got a new corner punch and thought I’d do something a little different with it.

I started with Stampin’ Up!’s Pink Pirouette cardstock, punched the corners with the corner punch, which is by EK Success and embossed it with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. I put a little bit of Kiwi Kiss cardstock behind them but cut out what was behind the flowers and put Riding Hood Red behind them. Then I matted it with more Riding Hood Red. I cut the right side of it with a Fiskars rotary cutter. The sentiment stamp is by PSX and is stamped in Riding Hood Red ink. The sentiment and its matting are cut and embossed with Nestabilities Long Ovals. The butterfly was in my 'card parts' box and is stamped with Versamark on vellum, embossed with Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder, cut out, and mounted just on the body with Pop Dots scraps. The card base is Whisper White and it opens on the side.

Another Simple Mother's Day Card

A simple, simple Mother’s Day card for today.

The stamps are all separate and are from Studio G from JoAnn’s. Again, I drew in the stems. I did the coloring with Stampin’ Up! markers in Soft Subtles colors. The butterfly is punched with a Martha Stewart punch from Stampin’ Up! vellum which had been embossed with my Sizzix Three Dots embossing folder. I added two tiny pearls to the butterfly body and one larger one to the center of the tallest flower. I think I would have liked it better if I had stamped the sentiment on the bottom left instead of the right, but it'll do! The card base is Papertrey Ink Stamper's Select White.
