Sending Hugs

I came across this flower that had been die-cut and laying around. I almost tossed it, but I made this simple card instead. I used a Gina K stencil for the background. I stamped the sentiment on the white panel, added the flower, and then stamped over it again. Then I added the panel to the card and added the thin black strips.

Birthday in Blue, and a Bonus

I had this piece out for the card in my last post, but didn't use it. So, I made this card instead. The image and sentiment stamps are from Gina K. I colored with Prismacolor pencils. The matting layer is glittery gold.

I post all of the cards that I make, so I have to share this one. I'm sure it's VERY similar to another I've posted, but I didn't look at anything when I made this one. The stamps and stencil set are all from Gina K. I added a few nail head stickers to this one.

Another Punch

I thought the punch I had out on my table was ready to throw away, but I tested it again, and it worked fine. It actually even punches around corners. Took me a few tries before I could successfully make it around four corners, though! So, I had lots of scraps to use. Here is what I did with those pieces.

This first one uses a stamp and a stencil, both from Gina K.

Here is my one piece where I made it all the way around. This one uses four stamps from one Gina K set - a couple stamped in gray and a couple in black.

And this last one uses a stencil set and a stamp from Gina K.

Old Punches #5

The bottom of the image panel was punched with an older border punch. I added the flowers to the white panel using stencils from Gina K. The sentiment is from Gina K. I embossed it with black on gold and popped it up. The butterfly was in with my parts.

I used more old punches to make these cards - the flowers and the leaves. The backgrounds on each are done with Gina K stencils. The second card also has a punched border at the bottom of the sentiment panel. The sentiments are both from Gina K. I used another ancient item - brads - for the flower centers.

Old Punches #1

I have so many old punches that I haven't used for years!! I rearranged things in my stamping room (again!) and now they are visible. But first, I had to test them all. I had to toss a few of them that didn't work, but I still have lots. So, I now have several cards that are made with test pieces. Here is one of them. I punched the bottom border, then matted that piece with black. The sentiment is from Gina K. So are the flower and leaf stamps, stencils and dies. The flowers are popped up. I added three black nail heads to complete the card.

More Wax Paper Technique

These cards are made with panels that I had created using the wax paper resist technique and then stencils. This first one is a gate-fold card. If you look at them closely, you can see the pattern from the wax paper.

I made two cards almost identical to this one (one had a different sentiment) and two cards just like the second one. The stencil and the stamps and dies are all from Gina K. I colored with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. The image and sentiment are popped up, of course. :-)

Deer Friend

Wax Paper Resist Card Fronts

Here are the card fronts that I made by using the wax paper method. It's a really old technique, but Gina K did a video of it very recently. You crinkle the wax paper, unwrap it and then put it between two pieces of cardstock and iron it with a hot iron. Then any ink you put on it will be resisted by the wax. One way she used hers was with stencils, and I really loved the result. Here are the pieces that I did, and I'm excited to make them into cards! I had never done a gray-scale card before (that I can remember!) and I love the way that turned out, too. (You might have to zoom in to see the patterns.)

Watercolor - Then Stencil

I watched a video that Mindy Eggen did using watercolor over an embossed image. I thought it was pretty cool, and this is my versions. Her video can be seen here.  Mine is not so impressive, but it was fun and I do like the way it turned out.  The embossing folder, stencils, sentiment with die  are all from Gina K. The sentiment is embossed with gold powder and popped up.

Blooming Branches - Part Two

The embossing folder from Gina K that I'm using is called Blooming Branches. Here are a couple more cards I've made using it.

For this first one, I brayered a very light lavender ink onto the embossing folder before embossing. Then I embossed and used the coordinating stencils to color the image. I left the flowers white, with just the little bit of coloration from the ink on the folder. I matted the panel. I realize I forgot to add a sentiment, but I can do that later.

FOr this one, I was experimenting with just using the stencils. After I finished adding the colors, I decided I'd like it better if I embossed it, so I did. I added some black spatters, which dried looking gray, so I used gray to mat the panel and added the stamped and die-cut sentiment.

One Folder - Four Different Cards

This 3-D embossing folder and the matching dies and stencils are from Gina K's newly released kit. I made four cards using them - each of them different. The sentiment is from a different set in the kit. For this first card, I simply embossed the design on white and used the stencils to color it. I stamped the sentiment in a matching color and adhered it directly onto the embossed image. I matted with a matching pink cardstock.

For this second card, I embossed on a gold cardstock and matted with black. The sentiment was gold-embossed on black and die-cut.

I embossed on white and colored the leaves and stems with the coordinating stencils. I also added a little bit of brown ink to the flower centers. The flowers were embossed with gold and die-cut. They are popped up on foam circles. The sentiment is gold-embossed on white.

This one was an accident. :-) This is the back of the gold cardstock. I embossed it upside down. I really like the way it turned out. I used the stencils for the coloring. The sentiment is embossed with a matching green ink and popped up.

Simple Thinking of You

Finally, another card! Life has been busy - too busy for card-making. For one thing, we are redoing a bathroom and that requires lots of decisions and shopping and checking out tile, etc. At any rate, I do have a card for today. I still have some card parts sitting out, and this made use of one of them. The oval had been die-cut and I had brushed some green over it. I pulled out my current favorite flower stamp set and stamped the flowers and the sentiment. Then I used the coordinating stencil and colored it. I added some shimmery enamel dots and added them. The background panel was embossed with a 3D Altenew embossing folder.

Die-Cut Flower Birthday

I had five of these flowers made up, so I made five cards like this one and used them up. The flower dies are from Altenew. I stenciled the middle section using a Gina K stencil and added thin black strips on each side, then matted the entire panel with black. The sentiment is also from Gina K.

Turquoise Sympathy

We needed a sympathy card, and here is what I made. Nothing particularly special, but I think it's pretty enough. I used a set from Gina K - polyglaze image and sentiment to foil (with silver), stencils to color the image, and dies to cut them both out. They are, of course, popped up. I added some patterned paper on the left side and a thin strip of silver alongside it. It's really hard to see the foiling, so here is a little bit better view.

Sweet Friend

I came across this die from Altenew recently and decided to use it. I cut it out of a bright pink and matted with black. Then I had to figure out what to do with it. So, I dug out a set from Gina K that I've had for many years and have hardly used. I used a stencil for the flower petals and stamps for the black areas and the center dot, then a die to cut out the flower. It's popped up, of course. The sentiment is from a different Gina K set.
