Sympathy for the Loss of a Friend

I wasn't even going to post this card, since it's so similar to ones that I've recently posted. But, I have nothing else anyway! We needed a sympathy card. A former co-worker and friend of Jim's just passed away. I had Jim's input on all of the elements of this card - from the paper to the die-cuts to the sentiment and the color of ink.

Butterfly Thanks

Here is another card that just "happened." I have been going into my stamping room lately and end up just looking around and not making anything. I need some mojo! At any rate, I happened to see a photograph in my trash can that a friend had tossed. It was of a lake and then trees in the background. I took it out of the trash and cut it into quarter-inch strips and glued them randomly onto a piece of scratch paper. Then I used that to cut the butterfly die. (My "plan" was just to use the stripped piece as a background, but I didn't like it for that.) Then I was looking for some dark green to mat around the die-cut. In the dark green package was a pre-cut frame. I used that, but trimmed it down a bit. I used an Altenew stamp to stamp the dots in the background. All of the dots didn't stamp, but I decided I liked it that way. The "thanks" stamp was from the same Altenew set. I matted it with the same background piece and mounted it on foam squares.

Thanks For Our Pastor

We have a new pastor at our church, and this is the card I made for her celebration. Actually, she was our associate pastor and accepted the call to be our senior (and now, only) pastor after our former senior pastor retired. We are grateful to have her!

The image stamp is from Inkadinkado and is embossed with detail gold powder. The sentiment is from Gina K and is also embossed with gold. The image panel is ivory cardstock. I used strips of patterned paper (and therefore made more scraps to use up!) on each side. I also added gold foil strips on the image panel and light purple strips on the edges.

One More Scrap Card

More scraps - these ones are much smaller. I matted each of them with black. The flower is die-cut and the sentiment is from Gina K.

Birthday Wishes

Another card using a left-over scrap of patterned paper. I stamped an image from Gina K over it and added a strip of gold glitter cardstock on top and bottom of it. The sentiment is from the same Gina K set.

Using Up Some Scraps

Usually I'm using card parts to make cards, but these cards (and my next two posts) are using up some scraps of patterned paper. I simply added some thin black strips along the edges of the patterned paper. The sentiments are both from Gina K sets and the flowers are die cuts.

Alcohol Ink Background

Another alcohol ink background card. I had our middle grandson here last Monday, and he was playing with my alcohol inks. We used some of the pieces he made to decorate the Easter eggs that I posted a couple days ago, but this one was just to pretty to cut up - I loved it. So I made a simple card using it. The sentiment and flowers are die-cuts. The sentiment is several layers thick, but the flower is just one layer. I added Wink of Stella on top of the flowers and sentiment.

Happy Easter!

Here is the extent of everything that I made for Easter. I used a video by Sam Calcott for the instructions. Happy Easter to all who celebrate!!

First Communion

Our middle grandchild took his first communion yesterday and this is the card that I made for him. I used an old Stampin' Up! set and embossed the image and sentiments with gold powder. I cut out the cross and mounted it, and the top sentiment, on foam squares. The ovals were cut with Nestabilities. The base and layers are ivory.

Simple Flower Birthday

And one more "card parts" card. I used the flowers and leaves (from Altenew and Gina K, I believe) and also a rub-on sentiment that was already rubbed on and matted.

Butterfly Card Parts

I pulled out these pre-assembled butterflies a while ago and turned them into cards. I also added a few more "parts." I thought I only had two of them, but when I was gluing one of them one, I realized it was a stack of two! So, I got three cards instead of two. For this first one, I also used a pre-made background, done with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and white ink on turquoise cardstock. The sentiment was also already made and sitting on my table.
I added strips of patterned paper and thin black strips on the edges of this one.
And one more - in purple. For this one, I added metallic strips along the patterned paper.

Blue Birthday with Ivory Flowers

Well, my first card post for a long time. Not sure where exactly all the time goes, but it sure does fly! We did go to Mexico for a week with our son and his family. That was pretty awesome!

I had pulled out some card parts and made a few cards, so it's time that I blogged them. The card part on this one is the die-cut flowers. I'm pretty sure it's from Cuttlebug, but I'm not certain. I think I have two more of them to use. I had used some of this patterned paper and had some more out on my table, so I used it, too. I used one of my Waffle Flower rectangle dies to cut the center out of the patterned paper, then reversed the outside frame. I added the die-cut flowers and I double-heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder.

April Calendar Page

April has arrived!! Thank goodness March is over - it was much too cold!

This month's calendar page uses a two-piece umbrella die. I used gold foil cardstock for the frame and Michael's patterned paper for the main piece. I printed the sentiment on my laser printer and then used fold foil and my laminator.
