Alcohol Inked Background

Another background used up. Unlike the others I've been using, I made this one very recently. The others were made years and years ago by someone else. I used alcohol inks for this one. I saw a card on Gina K's Instagram a couple of days ago that someone had made using about the same colors! (Mine was done about three or four weeks ago.) That card simply had a white-stamped sentiment, so I thought using a white layered die-cut would work, too.

Alcohol Ink Birthday

I started making this background with my alcohol inks when a friend was over. It wasn't looking good, but I kept it. I added more inks later, and I'm pleased enough with it. I simply cut the background and the matting with my Waffle Flower rectangles dies and added it to a card base. The sentiment "Sending" was made a while ago with Stampin' Up! dies borrowed from a friend. The "Birthday Wishes" was stamped using the same set. The "Sending" is mounted on foam squares.

Hello Friend

Another simple card (that's what I do!) today. These tiny squares were in a little jar on my table, so I dumped them out and used them. They had been made with alcohol inks and were left-over scraps from an earlier project. I glued them to a piece of brown cardstock and added a sentiment from Gina K. I also used a background die.

Purple Alcohol Ink Background

I finally played just a tiny bit with my alcohol inks again. Well, actually, just one bottle. Hard to believe this was all one color - even the sentiment background. I cut the panels using my Waffle Flower rectangles and then added a die-cut from my card parts. I had stamped the sentiment, from an old Gina K set, right on the background and when I came back later, it had bled. Disappointing, as I really liked it stamped right on the background. But, ya gotta do what ya gotta do, so I dug in my trash can and found the piece I had cut the background out of and figured out the best place to re-stamp the sentiment. I matted it with black and added it over the stamping on the card. This one didn't bleed. I guess the ink was still slightly damp when I stamped the first time.

Alcohol Ink Background

Another alcohol ink background card. I had our middle grandson here last Monday, and he was playing with my alcohol inks. We used some of the pieces he made to decorate the Easter eggs that I posted a couple days ago, but this one was just to pretty to cut up - I loved it. So I made a simple card using it. The sentiment and flowers are die-cuts. The sentiment is several layers thick, but the flower is just one layer. I added Wink of Stella on top of the flowers and sentiment.

Happy Birthday with Alcohol Inks

When a friend was over a couple weeks ago, I quickly showed her my alcohol inks. I just totally randomly picked out two bottles and dropped some ink on the cardstock, just to show her how they worked. After she left, I ended up using the same two inks to cover the entire piece. I thought it was pretty cool, and so I made it into a card. I matted it with a matching cardstock. The sentiment was already stamped and on my table. It's from Avery Elle and is embossed in black and double matted and mounted on foam squares.

Wishing You a Speedy Recovery

A speedy recovery card for a friend having hip surgery. The image panel is an alcohol inked background - one of my first attempts. It was made after I had my blowing tool, but before I had better special paper. I still like it a lot, though. You can see the "wispiness" better in person. The "wishing you" stamp is by Verve and the silhouette stamp is Gina K. I added thin holographic strips on each side of the panel. The inside says, "a very speedy recovery."

Alcohol Ink Flower

My first attempt at a flower with alcohol inks. I like the way it turned out. I made it a mini-slim line card. The piece I started with was 4 x 6 inches, so I just added a quarter inch strip of black on each side of it. I stamped the sentiment directly on the panel, but I didn't realize that it hadn't dried and I smeared it. I stamped the sentiment again, matted it and added it over the smeared stamping. I also used white and black Posca pens in the flower center.

Happy Birthday with Alcohol Inks

Another card I made using alcohol inks. This one is kind of pretty. I'm working on it! The next card I post (Monday) I really like. I matted this one and mounted the panel at an angle and added the matted, raised sentiment.

Alcohol Ink Hello

A simple Hello card for today. I've been playing a little bit with alcohol ink. So far I don't have good paper for it. I've used something from The Dollar Tree and also photo paper. Neither is great, but it's still been fun. By the time this posts, I will have received some better cardstock and perhaps have played around a bit more! I'm excited to try it some more. At any rate, here is something that I did for now. I matted the small piece and added it to a card base. The die-cut sentiment is from Altenew. I layered it up and added some Diamond Glaze to it.

First Alcohol Ink Card

A few months ago, I bought myself some inexpensive alcohol inks from Amazon. Recently I got some posterboard from The Dollar Tree. I combined them for this card. I want to make some more backgrounds, but time just flies by way too fast. (I also got some acrylic paints for Christmas and I want to try them out on my gel plate.) I added thin black strips on each side of the panel. I stamped the sentiment and the flowers (both from Gina K) with Versamark and used black embossing powder on them.
