Simple Hi

Just a simple card to say hello. The flower stamps are from Scrappy Cat. I stamped them on watercolor paper with Versamark and embossed them with black embossing powder. I used Zig Clean Color markers on them. I gave them a thin mat of purple. The sentiment was cut with an Altenew die. I cut it four times out of black and glued them together. Then I used Versamark on it and added two layers of black embossing powder to give it a shiny look. The cardbase is ivory.

Stamped Background

I stamped this background just before I went into "concentrate on Mom and Dad's stuff" mode. I think I actually finished the card shortly after that. But here it is finally on my blog. Hopefully I'll have some more time to create soon.

I happened upon this wood-mounted leaf stamp when I had a bunch of wood-mounted stamps out. (They are all still out, by the way!) It's by Scrappy Cat. I thought it looked kind of pretty. So, I made this background with it. All of the other stamps (flower, flower center, four-dots, and sentiment) are from Papertrey Ink. I used Gina K inks and matted with Gina K cardstock. I used foam squares to mount the panel.

I got all through the boxes of my mom and dad's things. It's at least sorted out. Step one! I will be passing a lot of it on to my brother. I have a BIG box of pictures, though, that I still need to sort out as best as I can and scan them. That is going to take a long time! At least they are all in one place, though.

Our daughter and her family are coming for a visit soon and will be here for a while. I guess my stamping time will be limited then! I'll just create when I can and enjoy the company.

Birthday Wishes

I started with the rectangular, die-cut piece that I cut with a friend's die when I was in Omaha.

I sponged yellow ink around the edge of it. Then I stamped the flower image from Penny Black. I colored it with Copics. I matted with black. The sentiment is from Scrappy Cat. I added flower centers with a Pearl Pen. The patterned paper is from Recollections.

Celebrate

I recently came across my Letterpress plate by Sizzix and thought I would use it again. I inked it up with Stampin' Up!'s ink called Summer Starfruit and used a strip of white cardstock. I added it to a layer of Summer Starfruit cardstock. I stamped the sentiment, from Scrappy Cat, on a strip of the starfruit cardstock in Versamark and embossed with detail white embossing powder. I scored a line on the top and bottom and mounted the sentiment strip on foam squares.

Happy Third Birthday, Andrew!

Today is our grandson Andrew's third birthday. We were supposed to go to Chicago and help him celebrate, but my husband's back has been giving him problems and he was not able to make the drive. So, we'll have to settle for Skype.

I put some Flower Soft on our daughter's birthday card last month, and I guess Andrew was quite fascinated by the texture. So, I wanted to put texture on his card, too. The dragonfly is from a Recollections set. I added Flower Soft to the wings, black flocking to the body, and sparkle to his face. The circle had been cut with a punch and I sponged ink around the edges. The letters are from a set by Scrappy Cat. I stamped with Versamagic pads and embossed with Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder and added some scored lines. The background is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. The number 3 is cut using a Cuttlebug set.

Today is my mom's birthday, too. I'll be sharing her card tomorrow, probably.

Two "Same-Stamp" Cards

I’m sharing two cards today with you, using the same main stamp on both cards. The flower and the leaves are from Gina K’s Year of Flowers, and I stamped them when my friend was here in June.

For this first one, I made it a sunflower. Not sure it can be, but what the heck! I colored the flower and the leaves with Stampin’ Up! markers and cut them out. For the flower I used Barely Banana and So Saffron, and for the leaves I used Mellow Moss and Sage Shadow. The center of the flower is Flower Soft. I drew the stem with a black Sharpie, then went over it with the Mellow Moss and Sage Shadow markers. I popped the flower and leaves up on Pop Dots. The sentiment is from Scrappy Cat and the card base is PaperTrey Ink’s kraft.
For the second one, I did no coloring on the flower – just used Flower Soft in the center. I used the same color markers for these leaves as the first one – Mellow Moss and Sage Shadow and drew the stem. The sentiment is again from Scrappy Cat. I embossed the background with my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder, mounted the whole thing on black, used my Stampin’ Up! punch for the photo corners and mounted the flower, leaves and sentiment on Pop Dots.

Anne's Birthday Card

A birthday card for a friend – Anne.

The butterfly is from the dollar spot at JoAnn’s - by Inkadinkado. I stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black ink on Cameo Coral (or it might have been Papertrey Ink’s Berry Sorbet) and colored with markers, then cut it out and popped it up on Pop Dots. I colored the “trail” too, which was from another stamping of the same stamp on white cardstock. I matted it to match the butterfly, added black brads, and mounted it on black. The background paper is from Die Cuts With a View, and the sentiment is from Scrappy Cat.

2RedBananas Sketch Challenge

Today’s card is for a Sketch Challenge from the 2RedBananas blog. You can find it here. I think it’s a really great sketch – you should give it a try! The prize is awesome, too. It’s your choice of one of their new June releases, which were just announced. You can enter the same card in the Card Positioning System's Challenge for a chance to win a prize, there, too!

The patterned papers on my card are both from Die Cuts With a View “Fun in the Sun” Summer Matstack. The green is from a scrap pack and the ivory is a shimmery paper. The sentiment is from a set by Scrappy Cat called “Birthday Wishes.” The flowers are by Kaiser and the button is from Papertrey Ink. I stamped the sentiment with Versamagic Aloe Vera ink and embossed with Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder.

Thanks so much for looking, and I hope you’ll come back and visit again soon!
