An Everlasting Love

This card uses a die that I got from my friend in March. I think I only have one unused item/set that I received from her. I decided to make three of these cards, like I had told myself to do last year, but have forgotten about! Then I can keep one and give the other two away - to my church and to the thrift store that Cheryl donates to (and volunteers at!)

The die is from Impression Obsession, the sentiment is from The Paper Company and the embossing was done with a folder from Darice. As I think you can tell from the photos, the background cardstocks are metallic and the sentiment is white heat embossed. I also scored the lines with my Scor-Pal.

Christmas - in January

Three Christmas cards for 2024. It's a start. The images are all old, wood-mounted Stampin' Up! stamps, stamped with Versamark and embossed with detail gold embossing powder. The sentiment is from Gina K and is also gold embossed. I rubbed Versamark on the edges and used the gold powder on them, too, to separate them from the patterned paper, which is from a Paper Company matstack.

Stenciled Hello

I made the background for this card with a stencil. The patterned paper on the edges is from The Paper Company. I cut the sentiment from bronze-ish glitter cardstock. It is four layers thick - three white layers under the glitter layer. I also added thin glitter cardstock strips to the edges of the stenciled piece.

November Color Swap - Navy and Cream

Our stamping group's color swap for this month is navy and cream. Here is my card. The image is from Repeat Impressions. The sentiment is from The Paper Company. I cut the rectangles, then put them together in my MISTI and stamped the image. I matted each rectangle with navy.

We have been lucky enough to have our granddaughter spend several days with us. Awesome!! She and I have had some (but not enough!) time in my stamping room. She personally made both of these cards - she did the stamping and the coloring. I helped with the cutting, but then she did the gluing. I am so impressed! She is in fifth grade - age ten and a half.

The main image on this first card is from Gina K. She colored with Copics. The sentiment and the heart stamp are from The Paper Company.

The flower spray and the butterflies on this card are from Inkadinkado. They are also colored with Copics. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!

I am adding these last two pieces because, again, I am so impressed. She just drew these in a few seconds so that she could practice her coloring! They look like stamps to me. :)

It's Your Special Day

In my trip to Hobby Lobby several weeks ago where I purchased a couple (three?) things at 75% off, this embossing folder/die was one of those items. It embosses the flowers and leaves and also cuts out the center. I have had this piece sitting in my pile since the day I bought the folder and finally used it last week on this card. I used textured pink cardstock and lightly sanded it down after embossing. I cut the center out of green and added it to the pink piece. The sentiment is from The Paper Company. I added three "jeweled" enamel dots.

Another stamped image from June - unknown company. The sentiment is from The Paper Company. I colored the flowers using Spectrum Noir Sparkle Glitter Brush Pens. It's rather shimmery in real life:)

Faux Embossing

 

Someone in my stamping group asked me to demonstrate what I call the "Faux Embossing" technique when we go to Des Moines next week. So, I've been working on it. Here are two cards I made using the technique. It's just stamping, but it really does look like it's raised embossing. All you do is stamp a fairly solid stamp with ink matching the cardstock you are stamping on. Then, using a Stamp-a-ma-jig or a MISTI, you stamp the image again with white ink, moving it slightly one way or another from the original stamping.

On this one, I used my Score-Pal to make a border around the outside. The sentiment is from Gina K.

Sympathy

Officially, I suppose this card could have been posted with yesterday's cards, as the cadbase was repurposed. But, since all I did was use the kraft base and cover up the stamping on it, I didn't count it as recycled:) I added a panel of patterned paper from The Paper Company on the right. The sentiment is a cheap die that I bought a while back and I backed it with a piece of kraft and mounted it on foam squares.

Edited to add: I have ordered dies from Amazon, and also from AliExpress.com.

Purple Birthday

It was fun to have a friend come over on Thursday and spend some time in my stamping room. I made this card while she was here. The die cut lattice piece was on my desk from a couple weeks ago. I finally figured out what I wanted to do with it. The flower is from an Inkadinkado set. I colored it with markers and used the "thumping" technique. Edited to add: Here is a simple video I did showing the thumping technique.) The sentiment is from The Paper Company. I mounted the panel on foam squares. The patterned paper is from a Recollections matstack.

Super Simple Birthday

This kite was printed on the paper that I used for a card a few days ago. I liked the patterned part and used it, leaving the kite along the entire left side. Not wanted to toss it, I trimmed it down and used it on this card. :)

I used a newer die to cut the curvy stitched right edge. The sentiment is from a The Paper Company set. I used a square die-cut piece and mounted on foam squares. This card measures 3.5 x 6.25 inches.

Letting the Paper Do the Work

This paper has been in my stash for many years. It was free with a purchase at Archivers long ago. It came in 8 x 8 sheets. I cut it in half, and then cut them to fit on my card fronts. I matted with a matching blue cardstock. Then, I just added sentiments! This first one uses a sentiment from The Paper Company.

For this second one, I used a stamp from Paper Inspirations.

I've had this large die-cut flower (both pieces) in my card parts for a couple years, so it has finally made it on to a card, too!

"Windy Flowers" Birthday

More "card parts." I WILL get back to my Stampin' Up! project, but I'm kind of stuck on card parts right now - when I have time to anything at all.

These flowers have been stamped for a couple years, also. I think they should be more straight up and down, but they are stamped with multiple stamps and when I stamped the first ones, I didn't realize which direction they were. So, these are blowin' in the wind! I mounted the image panel on Old Olive cardstock. I embossed the end with a Cuttlebug border folder and embossed three lines with my Scor-Buddy. The sentiment is from The Paper Company.

A birthday card for a friend. Happy Birthday, Terri!

I cut the poppies and the background out with Spellbinders dies. (I struggled and struggled with the Poppy one. Anyone else have problems??? I ended up having to cut a lot of the center portion with a scissors. I am not happy about that! I tried again and again, and I really don't think I'll be able to use the die.) I glued the poppy piece right on the labels 27 one and then mounted that panel on foam squares. The patterned paper is from a stack I got at Archiver's from Pebbles. The sentiment is from The Paper Company.

Flutter By Wednesday #211 - A Sketch

Today's Flutter By Wednesday challenge is another sketch by Kathy. Take a look:) What a great sketch - thanks, Kathy! Also, thanks to everyone who joined us last week. I hope we'll have even more participants this week! Please visit the blog for details.

The sketch reminded me of an embossing folder that I have, so I started there. It's from Quickutz. I embossed white cardstock and matted with Pale Plum from Stampin' Up. I added the sheer ribbon before adhering the matting. The butterfly, from Hampton Art, was first stamped on Pale Plum with Perfect Plum ink and cut out. I colored the body with a black marker. Then I stamped the image again with black on white cardstock, added the sentiment, from The Paper Company, and cut them out with a Circle Nestability. I glued the plum butterfly over the black-stamped one, leaving the wings free. The scalloped matting was also cut using a Nestability, again from Pale Plum. I mounted the circle on foam squares. I really wanted to add Stickles to the butterfly, but I was worried it would make the ink bleed.

SCS Free 4 All Challenge

This card is for today's SplitCoastStampers Free 4 All challenge - to use the negative image from a die or punch.

The balloon dies I used are from Quickutz/Lifestyle Crafts. The sentiment is from The Paper Company. After cutting out the balloons and stamping the sentiment, I embossed with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder, added the patterned paper, and matted with black. I decided to add two of the balloons that I cut out, too, so I sponged some Rose Romance ink around the edges and mounted them on foam squares. The patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye.

Masculine Birthday

A friend from my stamping group lives in Canada and so far hasn't been able to attend our Group Gathering. However, she has sent packets of "card parts" for us. So sweet - thanks again, Annie! This card uses a stamp off from her.

I wish you could see it in the picture, but the image is embossed with copper embossing powder. I cut out the cup (which says "Dad") and the handle of the fishing pole and mounted them on foam pieces. I matted with shimmery copper paper and then a thin layer of black. The background paper is from a matstack from The Paper Company.

Happy Birthday, Lucy!

OK, here is the last of my "card parts" cards for a while. It's for my forever friend, Lucy. 


The "part" for this card was the vellum with the image stamped on it. The stamp is from Inkadinkado. I used small Versamagic pads for it. The stamping is actually on the back side of the vellum. I cut the window in the front of the card and I also cut the vellum to be just larger than the window. I adhered the vellum on the inside, and added a thin frame to cover up the edges. As it turned out, I could have adhered the image to the front of the card, since I ended up added the green scalloped frame, which would have covered it up, too. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. The fancy tag die is from Spellbinders. I carefully stamped the sentiment inside the card so that it would show through the vellum but not be covered up by the image. Rose Birthday

Another quick post with a Card Parts card.


The parts for this card were the stamped and cut rose and the scored panel. The rose, from Inkadinkado, was colored with markers and stamped on watercolor paper. It was cut with a long oval Nestability. I added the matting, cut with a scalloped long oval Nestability. I mounted it on Dimensionals. The white panel was scored with my Scor-Pal and matted with the same cardstock as the rose. The sentiment is from a set from The Paper Company. I kind of liked the look of the white with the ivory - something different.
